In from the dark, with some finished kits.

Post by Omi »

Well I've been sitting on the side lines for little while, basically due to LIFE !.
I had to watch various members collect a lot of dragon kits and replace there collection of paints, you know who they are! :nena: and other members complete some excellent models.

So I have made a push and completed some work, see what you think and comment if you want.
Sorry a bit picture heavy!
Look away if you scare easy chaps.

First up is a 1/35 cheap o kit from bargain bin. Mib kit I think. Base is scratch built, I got a new router lol.

Second up is a hasegawa 1/72 f 16a. Lovely kit.

This has the photo etch for the cockpit and some for the exterior, very tricky at this scale, I asked myself why and swore a lot with this one. Decals were not nice at all. :bash:

Finally a new concept for me, I wanted to complete a dio, now I'm sure all of you have been there and saw some of the works of art the talented ones produce, so my goal was to go for it and see what we end up with.
Kit is a italeri humvee. With some figures from a trumperter kit. Building is a mini art.
Some things are scratch built (paint brush, tree, water bottle).
It's not based on any particular event, just my imagination.

I have called it " club 18 to 30"

All nice work, mate! :thumb1: :thumb1:

But, being an aircraft only modeler, I do favour the F-16...great job for a small kit!

Good stuff mate. I'd like to have a crack at a diorama myself but feel I need to get my kit and figure builds/paints to a much better standard first. Always great to see other peoples good work though and get some inspiration :)

Superb work mate - love the dioramas !

Just out of curiosity - do you have any good local model shops to recommend ? I only know of 1 in north shields (Gladstones) that I go to, the rest of my kits have had to be bought over the net as the shops stock is OK but no good for the more exotic models !

I`ve bought kits from a shop in durham (never actually visited it, ebay only) but other than that it seems pretty bleak up here.

Thanks lads.
Yeah the one at Durham is good but a bit pricey.
I usually buy from evil bay.
Glad stones are good and have some bargains sometimes.
But I travel a lot with work and try to find stuff when I'm away, anything particular your looking for?

Thanks for the offer but I get most of my stuff from asia these days (HLJ, HobbySearch or feebay), I was just curious in case there was a nice little shop floating about that I didn't know about.

The one in durham had a load of tamiya car & bike kits up on ebay auctions last year & I cleaned em out, mostly at half price - they only seem to do "buy it now"s these days, wonder why

I like gladstones as I live about 2 mins away, above the quayside, but they don't really have a massive range of non tamiya or humbrol enamel paints, no exotic glues etc etc but then its more than just a model shop so fair play to them for what they do stock.

Anyway, nice to see someone from God`s Own County

Thanks for looking.
The mg were £3 bargain box might give this as a gift to someone. Or place it on ebay and donate what I get to a charity. What do you think lads and lasses.
