Giving this one a go



worked on these while in HMF and my first armour build since coming back to the hobby.
Another first is having a go with PE and will have a go at airbrushing as i've just landed my self a H&S Evolution.

The kit its self seems ok but looking at some of the sprues there is flash on the smaller parts lucky for me the PE is replacing most of this so hope fully it will be a good build.
Going well so far hull and wheels started

Rear door and fire ext built with PE scalpel to show size, one thing i have learned with Pe is the Ultimate placers are a god send when you've got fingers my size and i use a cocktail stick to apply the CA to the parts after making a bit of a mess with the cable real.



Well back to the PE and plastic .

Just a quick up date for this one.

the PE set is eduard 35495 Warrior MCV

Some small fit issues requiring filler to deal with so far





Also all the wheels done and lower hull painted using the new air brush and Vallejo air paint. I did grey prime and pre shade but missed taking photos



looking forward to having a go with the new Ultimate weathering products a first for me.

Also a small bit of background around the Warrior for you all.

The Warrior tracked vehicle family is a series of British armoured vehicles, originally developed to replace the older FV430 series of armoured vehicles. The Warrior started life as the MCV-80 project that was first broached in the 1970s, GKN Sankey/Defence winning the production contract in 1980. GKN Defence was subsequently purchased by BAE Systems (via Alvis plc). A total of 789 FV510 and variants were manufactured for the British Army, and 254 of a modified version (Desert Warrior) were produced for the Kuwaiti Army

Description
The Warrior incorporates several design features in keeping with UK battlefield experience. In particular, there are no firing ports in the hull, in line with British thinking that the role of the armoured personnel carrier/infantry fighting vehicle (APC/IFV) is to carry troops under protection to the objective and then give firepower support when they have disembarked. The absence of firing ports also allows additional applique armour to be fitted to the sides of the vehicle, which is invariably applied to Warriors involved in active operations. The cage armour used at one stage was replaced in 2007 by "Wrap Two" applique armour.[3] The basic armour provides all-around protection against 14.5 mm armour-piercing ammunition.

The crew of a Warrior are the driver, seated in the front hull, and the gunner and commander who are seated in the turret. The embarked infantry section can number up to seven soldiers, who are seated facing each other in the rear hull compartment. Passenger access is through a single electric ram powered door at the rear of the hull, rather than a drop-down ramp as in the American M113 APC and M2 Bradley IFV. Warrior Section Vehicles are able to carry and support seven fully equipped soldiers together with supplies and weapons, including a number of anti-tank weapons, for a 48-hour battlefield day in nuclear/biological/chemical conditions.

The Warrior is driven by a Perkins-Rolls-Royce V8 Condor engine through a four-speed automatic gearbox. It is capable of a road speed of 46 miles per hour (74 km/h). The Warrior has the speed and performance to keep up with a Challenger 2 main battle tank over the most difficult terrain.

The vehicle is fitted with a two-man GKN Sankey turret, armed with a non-stabilized L21A1 30 mm RARDEN cannon capable of destroying most modern APCs at a maximum range of 1,500 metres (1,600 yd), and a L94A1 EX-34 7.62 mm Hughes Helicopters coaxial chain gun. It is fitted with two clusters of four defensive grenade launchers (usually used with Visual and Infrared Screening Smoke – VIRSS).

All Warrior Infantry Section Vehicles are now equipped with Bowman radios, which replace the earlier Clansman radios, for enhanced communications, command and control. When first introduced, the vehicles were fitted with passive Image intensifier night vision sights. These have since been progressively replaced with Thales Optronics Battle Group Thermal Imaging (BGTI) sights to upgrade night fighting capabilities, with 8x magnification.[4] As of 2007, 350 vehicles were fitted with BGTI.

Been busy so another update, had a go at using washes on the running gear / lower hull before fitting the PE mud guards front and rear.



Fitted the upper hull some fit issues at the rear before and after i'm trying Miliput for the first time.






the running gear is all sealed in and as you can see PE mud guards fitted.

a couple of views around the vehicle and the engine cover with PE and scratch built handles.










Just a query for anyone I've fitted some PE tool holders would you fit the tools paint the whole vehicle and then just brush paint the detail i.e. tools? or paint vehicle fit tools painted then just touch up the mounting brackets?
Also found a pic of a Warrior in BATUS Canada quite like the colors on this one.

Great progress! As for the tools, horses for courses. Some paint them and add them later, others add them and paint the details later. If they're individual parts, (not moulded on) I usually paint, then add them later. But that's just me.

Ok so its been a bit slow with work commitments but some more pe done and the hull is just about there now.
At a cross roads with this as if i fit the Iraq spec Armour a lot of detail disappears the up side to this is getting another kit and fitting out for BAOR scheme. Any hows here are some progress pics.

Drove one of these as well whilst in the HMF.

So i've been away quite a bit with work seeing more of NZ I might post some pic's.
As for the Warrior slow going but more or lest finished the turret last night i'll post some pics before i desertise the vehicle.

OK so been awhile but here are the latest pic's all of the completed turret and chassis before adding the extra armour for the Iraq 2003 onwards.










comments welcome and any advise most welcome would love to know about chipping or the location of a good guide.
