I would like to enter this with the 1/48 DML Fokker Dr.I built as Wk. No. 127/17. This will be a kid of experimental build to test out some stuff and techniques for other WW I builds I would like to do.

The Dr.I needs little introduction, being one of Fokker's most recognizable designs and an icon of the first World War thanks to the exploits of the "Red Barron" Manfred Von Richthofen and his red tri-planes, though many other notable pilots fought in it as well.

My goal for this build is to try out the Micro Sculpt Fokker Streaked Camo decals, as well as their fabric texture decals. I also wanted to build one of Von Richthofen's tripes, but since I spent good money on the lovely camo decals, I did not want to do one of his all red aircraft, hence 127/17, which had an evolving paint scheme. I plan to do the early itineration of this scheme with red cowl and cabane struts. Later the aircraft also had the upper surface of the top wing painted red as well as the rear fuselage and horizontal stabilizer. The Barron scored three kills in this aircraft, and while this perhaps occurred in its later paint scheme, it is close enough for me.

So far the research for this project has been very interesting and is also another reason for building this particular aircraft, as it will allow some of the nuances of the camouflage to be shown, that were unique to the Dr.I's, but were often blotted out by the colorful markings many of them carried.

The kit I had in my collection to start with was a bagged one, and has no box or decals, but aside from the Fokker serial number decals (which I will have to print) I believe I have the decals I need, and from the looks of the kit, I will not need to add much to it other than what comes in the box.
