Daylight brand magnifying light

Has anyone used a Daylight magnifying light?

The reviews seem mixed on quality, but I have a regular light and love it.

If anyone has an opinion on this let me know. I am thinking of getting one, my eyes are shot and I don't like the welding helmet.

For years I had sh. II. Ty lights and last year bought the triple bright and wow, it is great, a light is just as important as any other tool.

With that said, yes they are expensive, that is why I am asking for reviews. I do not mind spending money on quality products that last a long time.

I have always used this http://www.modellismo.it/visualizza_ogg ... lingua=ita, but the light is yellow and it cause eye strain, so i use only the magnifying glasses.
The lamps that you linked are great, but they cost so much just because they are "for modelling". Better to take something similar but in a home improvement store.

Paul, yes I agree, the Daylight lamp I have is simler, not cheap but a great tool.

I am wondering about the magnifying lamps. I am thinking of getting one of them too, to do small parts and figures.

Any thoughts?

I had one and never used the magnifier, much prefer the head mounted video type myself

I got this for roughly £60. But like Paul, I never use the magnifying feature. I'm thinking of getting the head band with the swap-able lenses. Anyway, the lamp gives some awesome light though...

Why don't you all use the magnifier? I have the welding helmet and it works well, but makes it hard to watch baseball.

Because IAH they are a PITA to use Geek goggles are much more versatile and do not need ?constant repositioning. A simple flip up is you want to catch the visual of what you are listening to

I managed to get a "Daylight" lamp from a new Hobbycraft store that opened up.. they had a massive discount on it!!
Crystal clear lens and great colour light...

Thanks y'all, I think I will get one, once the defense budget is approved by the minister of finance. I watch baseball every night while model, so the helmet does not work for long periods.

I suggest concentrating on a lamp that can project light over your entire work area.

In the past I have had lamps like you are showing and they leave shadows out side the small area which the light is projected. They typically just don't sit high enough.

Recently I bought the lamp listed below, it was less then $100 and has a large magnifying glass. If I only could buy one light, this would be it. The amount of elumination is amazing and the magnifier works great. If you never use the magnifier, it still projects more light then my dual bulb flor light by the same company.

I ended up getting an LED light but have put it over the spray booth. The plasic of the booth actually defuses the light nicely in the booth despite what the picture shows.
