Hi all, going through the stash and decided to build this model next. This a 1/24 Porsche 917 from Fujimi this is the car which won le mans in 1970 driven by
Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood. Porsche claimed the first of what was to become 16 overall victory's at this prestigious endurance event with this car.
This 917k was from the Porsche Salzburg team.

I brought this book a couple of mouths ago some stunning photos, it tell the history of one of the iconic 917 the one with the hippy livery and the complete history of the car from manufacture to present day through all its owners and races. I will be using it for ref pictures.

Another great model topic, such a sleek beauty
How would you compare the Fujimi kits to Tamiya's in quality of fit and finish?
Seems my favorite Tamiya is not making many 1/20 scale F1 cars anymore
I have ordered a Fujimi 1/20 GP-02 F1 Ferrari 126C2 Long Beach GP which was Gilles Villenueve's last car

Hi Two, I think tamya is a little better in terms of quality of the plastic, the body on this car seems quit hard and the black plastic parts seem soft I will let you know how it goes together as I build it, thanks for looking.

Hi everyone thanks for looking, here is another small update. joined the front of the body together and the small rear fins on the back. had to use a small amount of filler and also filled a few sink holes. Then on with a few coats of zero paints micro primer. Primed and sprayed the wheels also with alclad steel. The detail on the moulds is very good hopefully get to start putting it together in the next few days, once again thanks for the comments and for looking.

I love this car, the blue and orange Gulf livery was my favorite. I remember having several HO scale slot cars as a kid and detailing them up. Loved the Jag in the background too
Cheers, Dave

Nice result. These come out a lot better than the steel from my Alclad bottle. What primer are you using?

How did you "weather" the drive shafts, they look fantastic and real
Is it just a thin flat black wash or something else??
Wish I could get the Zero paint in Canada

Hi all another update, started to put the front part of the chassis together and made a start on the dashboard this was a bit fiddly you need to fix the roll bar part first before the dashboard or you cant get it to fit. First attempt at flocking the seats they didn't come out to bad you need to press the flocking down once its on the glue or its looks to fluffy . I wasn't going to detail this kit put decided to fit some detail any way. fitted a union to the fire extinguisher and then going to add some piping when its in place. Sprayed the gearbox in Alclad magnesium and gave the discs a dark wash to bring out some detail. Thanks for looking.

Hi everyone here is another update. Fitted seat belts and anchor points to baulk head.

Image

Image

There is no engine in this kit, so fitted rear suspension drive shafts and gearbox.
Image
Image

Image
Added a few wires to the battery these connect to the baulk head electrical boxes

Here is the fan that sits on top of the engine, the engine in this car was air cooled the radiator at the front was to cool the oil.
I painted the fan Tamiya flat white and then clear yellow and then a wash of Mig engine oil.
Image

Engine cover with a coat of clear.

Fan a cover together

Body with first coat of clear.
