Just completed building this recent release by Tamiya.

Great kit, easy to build. The only time consuming aspect was applying the zimmerit using Humbrol putty. Really wanted to build this from the box and not allow myself any added luxuries.I only replaced the nylon cord with brass wire as this is terrible and Hornet heads for the crew as the original parts also terrible.

Overall a nice kit, but well overpriced and given the choice a Dragon offering ought to be the first port of call. This was a birthday gift so gratefully received and built:

It is a pity about the quality of the tamiya heads. Did it come with those tracks and not the usual rubber type?

Hi Lego, yep the kit supplies link and length type tracks which you build up into four sub sections.

Ha ha, just managed to find some time to dust off the airbrush, seems like ages ago I last painted something - indeed it was hard enough locating this thread to update it!

Pre- shaded with brown, only because I had a 90mm horse to paint, to birds, one stone....

Then tried to be clever with a semi modulated base colour, not happy with it as too light and grey looking....

Over sprayed with Tamiya clear yellow to bring it back to life a bit.....

Camo then applied, ta da.........

Nice camo scheme Paul, did you add a filter after the camo or is it just sprayed on very lightly?

I like it!!!

Very nice. This is making it hard not to put one on the to do list for sure.

Looks great so far like the camo and the addition of zimmerit onto the tank.

Thanks Kiwi. No filter added just applied with care as I was having a few problems with the AK stuff!

Great save! I've done one zimmerit panzer and it was (spank me) hard to weather. What's the method to weather zimmerit panzers? I mean streaking and washes can easily overpower the rest of the panzer. Haven't seen one videos youtube with this in mind or in migs FAQ 2.
Maby be massive question then it's better you just show me your magic stuff in the log.

Thanks Gustav! I haven't seen mush either, just have to take care that all the effects don't collect in the zimm.

Tracks base coated with Tamiya Dark Iron;

Coated with Klear and decals applied. Mr Mark Softer and Setter used to set the decals

Nice build Doing both the same subject, but you are way more upfront

Looks fantastic Paul. Little side not, I haven't been able to find that dark iron paint anywhere in the US yet. Suppose I could order it.

Ok.. That looks cool. I've post shaded with that colour,mbut never preshaded. Il be interested to see the effects. I love the way it looks right now.

Thanks Mike. I don't get much time with the airbrush so when presented with an opportunity I had to devise a plan which would cause minimal wasted time. Therefore I usually pre-shade with black. But needed to paint this horse;

Burnt Umber wash applied, quite pleased as is (for me) subtle and not too evident, just enough to change the tone slightly.

Elephant look's great mate, but the horse looks amazing. What scale is that?

It's a 90mm Poste Militaire figure and horse. It was my father's, he past away last year so I have the added pressure of doing his stash as well as mine! I airbrushed the base colour and post shaded, then airbrushed the base again to blend the shading before adding some highlights and the white. Long way off finishing as obviously quite an emotional build for me.
