been building this kit now for 2 weeks & thought I'd share it as I forgot.

Camo pattern painted with Xtracrylix.


Engines painted with Alclad


Cockpit with the help of Eduard zoom.


Still a long way to go tho, but enjoying this kit despite the fit issues.

What nationality will this be, the camo is cool and you did a great job on the engine exhaust. I have never built a jet, seems like people like that Alclad paint, why?

The decals in the box are from The 67th Fighter squadron I think but need to check properly.

Alclad is so easy to airbrush no need for any thinning gives a great finish, I've not tried the buff able paints yet but this gives a finish I like.

Ok missiles colours call out state the missiles should be white but most photos I've saw the missiles are base grey as below.



Which colour is best?

I have the Academy SJ kit and my call out says FS36375 for missiles but I guess it is up to you to decide which will look better or if you want to keep it accurate. Superb painting yet again Scott

Your picture shows AiM-120 AMRAAMs on the cheek stations and AiM-9's on the wings. AiM-120's are pretty much always painted with a grey body, white radome and gunmetal fins. The last AiM-7 Sparrow missiles were also available painted in the same grey paint scheme so if you paint them that way you won't be wrong. I'm not sure which missiles your kit came with, my F-15J came with AiM-7's. The older AiM-7's were painted white but I'm not sure when they switched to grey.

I would paint them like your picture shows.

Looking great so far. I would stick with gray for the missiles, seems to be the colour they are these days.

Academy havent built one for years how is the detail quality on them these days any feed back would be good considering on buys some

Not the best detail cockpit is a little plain could be made better with PE, surface detail is a little light that needs re scribing.
