Rest of the build:
Landing gear added
Rear stabilizers added:
Main rotor assembled and painted:
Canopy added. Not a very good fit at all.... Plus painted the canopy lines freehand as didn't have time to mask
Time to start the decals....
The side mounted machine gun didn't quite reach the ammo box inside the heli, so glued on the end of a cocktail stick. Just the job!
Just the main rota to add which you can see in the final reveal pics. To finish off the build thread, a little history:
In the late sixties, this small helicopter became operative with the US army during the Vietnam War. Initially, it was thought inadequate but became a much appreciated recon helicopter and renamed Loach.
Later it was also produced for civilian use and is still in use today in various versions.
