Tamiya 1/48 Avro Lancaster B.Mk.III 424 "Tiger" Sqdn RCAF

Post by darrengreenwood »

Ok so decided to post this, and it's been on my plastic tickling area for the last 11 days. As I'm pretty knowledgeable on the Lanc, I'm putting what I know into it. Why a Canadian one? Well as I have Canadian heritage why not eh?

And some of the work so far.

I sanded off these mouded placement lugs for the support poles and seats and added a floor from plasticard.

And the new floor:

A new PE table and control column front courtesy of Eduard.

And the pilot's area and seat.

IP and modified support for Nav's swivel seat. I quite like it.

And the cockpit with added PE from Eduard and from Flightpath.

All dials in the engineer's panel were glazed with Kristal Klear as were those in the IP and other panels in the forward area.

scratched a floor for the rear (as the door will be open), and also scratched the prominent handrail. And as you can it all fits nicely.

I also added a representation of the main spar, and moved the W/op's windows, which Tamiya have too far forward.

I also added the W/op's seat, which again Tamiya got wrong.

Here's what the original looks like.

Image

The fuselage built up and painted. I scratched a flare chute.

As my Lanc has H2S radar, I made the H2S stuff up which sits in the Nav's position. For this I've used bits from the spares box.

Image

The interior is all done. Including the F.24 strike camera in the nose.

Right the progress I made over the weekend.

And that's how she looks at the moment.

I have been making slow progress on the Lanc. And I've started detailing the Turrets and guns.
