1/35 Hobbyboss ZSL-92 IFV

Post by 5Craven »

Hi guys this is my entry into this Sig which will be a first proper armour build for an aircraft guy :oops:
I saw this kit going cheap on ebay earlier in the year and thought I would pick it up knowing this Sig was coming up. I liked the look of the box art where the look of the turret which gave the vehicle an almost sci-fi look. I know that's a bit of a poor reason to choose a kit but whats a wingy stuff guy to do? :nena: Anyway without further ado here is the kit;

The upper and lower hulls and the tires,

All of the sprues, not too much plastic here and the suspension/wheels are 3 mirrored sprues.

The decals and a small sheet of photoetch.

Instructions and painting guide, white wall tires for parade vehicles!

Finally an unexpected bonus print of the boxart.

I am looking forward to this build as it will be a different set of challenges and it looks like I will build it all up front before any painting. Should be fun, the dark side is beckoning to me. :lol:

I like the look of it, looks quite mean to me. Good for vehicle with big gun on top :mrgreen:
Sir, we're surrounded!
Excellent! Now we can attack in any direction!

OK so I have made a start on this build and so far its going well, so well in fact I have zoomed through the first step without pausing to take any photos :doh: So here is a quick photo update of where I am now.

Image

The upper hull, wheels and the propeller assemblies are all dry fitted at the moment just to get a look at how the whole thing goes together. And look I have even managed to get all the wheels to touch the ground at the same time! :dance: To be fair this is down to the kit rather than me. :P

Here is a look at one of the suspension units, this is built up out of 6 parts.

Image

So how is it going so far? Well to be honest its a bit mixed. The fit on the kit so far is fantastic those suspension units held together with just a dry fit. Also there is some really nicely moulded parts, the main cannon barrel is particularly good. On the downside some of the instructions are a little misleading, some parts have very prominent mould lines and worst of all there are no clear parts for the vision blocks and light lens. OK all of those issues can be got round but it is disappointing from a 2009 kit. However I am having fun so far, hope you enjoyed the update.
