"The bitter defeat" diorama 1/35 scale

This is another contribution to my "French Year" dedicated to French military vehicles of WW1 and WW2. This time i built Tamiya´s Renault UE Chenillette light tracked armoured carrier in 1/35 scale (you can find a kit review video on my channel). It is a very good and easy kit, just as i expected.
I felt that this model needed a little diorama, so i picked up the set "French village street" from MiniArt. It requires some filling and sanding, but you can not expect too much for a 14€ diorama kit.
To add some more interest to the scene i added a resin figure of a French soldier from SKP Models and a refugee cart from Plus Model. The cargo on the tank and the cart is from Tamiya and Plus Model.
I used acrylic colours from Revell to paint the model. Oil and enamel washes from MIG, Ammo and AK Interactive aswell as pigments from the same brands were used for the weathering.

The scene is set somewhere in France, June 1940.

Very nice Diorama ! I remember to see this picture in some World War II Book , it was one of the final pictures on the Blietzkrieg in France , and this picture always was to me the image of defeat , and how impotent he was to turning the tide ! Yes a very nice Diorama and an adequate title :' Bitter defeat' .

NOw that's a diorama! Poignant and right to the heart of the subject matter - I too remember seeing this photo when I was first studying history at university, its a fascinating and sad subject the history between France and Germany in 20th century (and beyond, as of now, the Germans effectively rule France via the ECB, but I wont go into that....)

Well done - this is one of my favourites of yours!

And some inspiration too, i just bought the Meng Char 2C and am thinking of doing the diorama with the captured "Lorraine" during the 1940 invasion
