Tasca Firefly/ Bren carrier

Post by Nige99 »

Well now that I'm all done with the moving at last I can get down to some modelling!
I have done half of the build with the Bren carrier but didn't have the time to take pics of it.
This is what my next project is complete with Dio.

It will be my first British armour build. Did do a SAS jeep but was for my mate.

I've built both of these kits Nige and loved them both, the Bren carrier had its moments but worked out in the end. The firefly was joy!
I know you'll love that.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you hammer out bud.

Well the Bren carrier is built give or take the odd small detail I can't put on till the painting stage.
My FireFly is almost built, running gear and detail stowage to do.

Thanks guys, the firefly will have loads of stowage and extra armour added to it. Where the farmer is located will be a rocky out crop with lots of trees. The forest floor is giving me a bit of a headache in terms of what to put down. I might use proper leaves and shread them to small scale.

Tasca do some amazing shermans. Never got the tracks right, even with a good wash and several layers of primer. You might have the almighty answer?
The build looks great!

Looking good Nige. I have the Tamiya Firefly which comes with the infantry set. So basically the same kits you have as the kit is the Tasca kit reboxed with those Tamiya figures included. I am looking forward to getting mine under way.

I like the dio idea, should be good when done mate. And the stowage details look nice too.

Well at last I've got some paint on them!

I used Vallejo black primer

Image

Image

I then used Mig dark green but it was a right pain in the arse to use  it didn't spay well at all.

So I opted for the old faithful which is on the turret.
Image

I then used Tamiya Olive Drab, I heavily thinned this and done light passes

Image

I then highlighted with Xf62 olive drab/Xf21 Sky mix

Image

The Bren carrier had the same treatment

Image
Image
Image

Image

Image

The colour looks a bit wrong at the moment but with a wash and weathering I hope it will calm down.

That XF-62 Olive Drab was really dark when I used it on a plane, so I toned it down with white.

It's my last day tomorrow on this and the Bren Carrier before it goes on the shelf so I can start on the Toger for Coens build.
