Matra MS80 rebuild

Post by JonMW »

I have been slowly rebuilding all the models that got damaged when this happened during the summer.

Image

I only have the two more to go, my two favorite ones that of course was the two most damaged ones. One of them this Model Factory Hiro Matra MS80 The Jackie Stewart drove to his first championship in 1969.

This is what it looked like after the accident. Luckily I found almost all the parts, the only thing missing is a small 0.5mm rod so it's easy to replace.

First thing to do was to take it apart even more.

The front half of the car was in pretty good order and easy to put back together.

Only thing broken was one of the PE mounts for the mirrors, a little tricky to get the two PE parts back together but it worked out.

The gearbox and the rear high mounted wing will need a bit more work as some of the parts are broken and a few others are bend.

Would have been some fine swear words out of my mouth if I saw that display case collapse in my house
