Yep, as the title states- I just finished my German Bismarck in 1:700th scale by Trumpeter. I also bought an aftermarket set of wooden deck flooring for this kit too (more on this later).

So in 1996, I was about 7 yrs old and built my first ship. It was the Bismarck by Revell. Since then I had never touched another ship until this week, and decided to put them side by side.
Wow what a development and how times have changed. Everything you see here was brush painted using LifeColor's KRIEGSMARINE satin acrylic set.

Funny story about the wooden decks.... I didn't know that it was a sticker until my little sister said that it seemed weird I had to use PVA and that it was sitting a little high. Little did I know that there was a plastic backing which you had to tear off to reveal the sticky underside :bash: So I had to rip up all the decking carefully, cleaned up all the PVA and then reapplied the deck. OMG... but it turned out well.

Hope you like it. It will be a very very long time until I do another ship.

That is an interesting contrast! I've never built a ship myself although I do have an Airfix Bismarck at my dad's place which I would like to have mailed down.
P.S. Seeing that you were alive in the 1990's and live in Melbourne, have you heard of the band called Something For Kate? I will ask almost anyone that question and it pisses my friends off that that's all I listen to lol. Just thought I'd check because you never know! :)

Excellent job on the Bissy. :thumb2: Revells old Bismarck is a bit crude in every shape form, but still a classic beauty in her own right. Should've seen the Aurora kit from the 60s. Not much of likeness compared to the 1:700 trumpeter kit, but then again, there's more left to your own imagination.

Not sure I see the issue. When I open the board--i.e., "Suggestion Box"--I simple click on the little box by the thread title that says "NEW", and it takes me to the first unread post.

Did I mis understand what it is you were looking for?
