Fire Dump diorama

Apologies if there is a separate thread on dioramas. (Mods feel free to move if required)
My 1:72 Vulcan was getting tired and brittle - bits falling off/lost etc. Rather than lob it in the bin, I have decided to turn into a Fire Dump diorama. (Many Vulcan airframes ended their days on a RAF fire dump
)
I have hacked lumps off and set about it with a blow lamp to represent the scenario.

Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated. I have a section of plaster board which I will beat lumps out of - and paint, as the base. I don't intend on having any figures/vehicles in it, as yet.
