Tamiya HKS NIssan Skyline GT-R

This is a build I'm doing for a local contest. I didn't take any pics when I started to build it so this is all I have so far. The body needs to be scrub to get the sanding dust off of it and then primer and paint.

Never built cars in my life. Looking forward to seeing this one painted. Are you going to be doing this as a clean build or doing any weathering/wear on her?

Looking good so far!

Nice to see a car in the mix. A mate of mine had a Skyline for years and he love that car so when im skilled enough I am going to do one and give it as a gift which he'd love.

Can't wait to see the finnished article! What have you got to do next in the build?

Thanks for the comments! I have thought about doing some weathering but unsure about what/how much to do. I want to make it look like its been used but not driven thru a field

I really only have the body to prime and paint then the huge sheet of decals to apply, hopefully they dont disintegrate because they were all cracked and I applied some decal bonder to them to hopefully save them. If they break apart its gonna be a bad day in the cave.

Yeah doing a car body is tough, you try to get everything perfect but something almost always gets in the paint, since this is gonna be black and covered by decals anyway I think I'm going to use black primer and then clear over it then apply the decals.

Looking good.
for the weathering you could just grime up the body by the exhausts, that always adds realism.
I have seen good results with the tamiya weathering master powders.
the D set is best for auto as it has burnt blue, burnt red and oil stains so you can do ya exhaust as well.

This is what I have spent most of Sunday doing. The decals are going on decent but some are cracking when removed from the backing . Slow work and take lots of breaks.LOL

Another update on the GT-R. All decals have been applied, just some final details like glass, lights and the like and she done!!!

I have mostly autos but have started into military and aircraft. I'll build anything really.
