World of Tanks

Post by Gav0909 »

So, I have been getting into playing alot more WoT recently (I am still bloody awful at it!) and was wondering if anyone else on here plays. If so, and there are enough of us, what would people think to having an ISM WoT team/clan whatever they are called?

I used to play it a bit but somehow it annoyed me and did not motivate me to play more. Most of the team comrades are stupid and have no idea to play this right, no feeling for a team or tactic. apart from that its a pretty nice game.

Well said ! Micheal

But to play it right... everyone needs to be on a TEAM TALK or something equivalent.... to guide the team towards victory and most good teams do Talk live.... it is obvious at times...

I try to support bigger tanks but I end up being shot since I'm a soft target...

It is only a matter of time before I switch to something else... those one shot One Kill tanks drive me nuts!

LOL

but you are right ! lack of team players do ruin the experience !!!

later buddy !

I use to play it quite a lot, but when you get enough level(8) it take forever to get new tanks and it start being boring.

Norm, that's a scout tank, you are not suppose to shoot at people with it.

I am the same Norm, I just keep dying. I am at the point where I have a level 3 tank (Cruiser IV) and I am now getting matched against KV-1s, T-34s etc and even if I spend a few extra coins (silver ones, I have never paid actual money for the game) to get some better ammo it doesn't seem to make much difference. Then you randomly die when unseen artillery decides to land a shell on your head!

It's been a while but when I did play I always preferred to be a tank destroyer or spg - hide in the background and then I randomly kill whilst I'm unseen and I decide to land a shell on your head! Sorry Gav!

I used to play it a lot when it first came out, I was even a beta tester. I was pretty good at it there for awhile.
But I got bored of all the wankers that don't have the first clue as to what at WWII tank is for or what a more modern piece of armour is for.
Or even what the difference is.
TDs that hide are apparently "Camping" and are bad players, when in fact ambushing is any tankers best weapon next to communications... something else lacking in the game.
Maybe if they got rid of all the online people and just made it single player I'd play again.

I played a lot, but now I'm more in minecraft ( again). The main problem on WoT is that if you don't play for a long time, when you want to play again you'll have to spend a day only for the upgrades of the game and that's a shame.

I have played this game (but rather ocassionally, not this no-life style) since early beta, so in the times it was a real pearl amongst free MMO games.
At this time the only things that irritated me were:
1) dissapearing tanks with high camo rank;
2) Tons of prototype/paper tanks.

But at some point I realised that mechanisms of this game was not that fair I thought it was.
After all this years I must say that maybe this is a very good game, but the mechanism appears to have tendency to favour one players on some others expense.
I came to this conclussions after taking more care about statistics (also with help of XVM mod). With my experience (not that high though with only ~2800 battles played since game went "mature") it seems that I've been placed in group of "dice rollers" who:

{hate mode on :) }
1) most likely get their shots bounced even with shooting tier IX tank gun against rear plate of tier VII arty (it happens to me on regular!);
2) getting tons of 0 damage penetrating shots (hell with those crits, especially when it's this shot that decides you or him...);
3) having your gun score for damages regulaliry in range far less than avg of the gun...
4) (I know this one sounds like a consipracy theory :) ) being constantly rolled in inballanced team where one side has definitely better efficiency rating (which means better rolling chances, or simply "luck");
{hate mode off}

But fortunately soon WarThunder will get their ground combat (tanks) part and taking into consideration how better is WT in comparison to World of Warplanes I'm hoping to get some more fun until World of Warships arrive :)

Well, the worst thing is I still continue to play this game :P So it turns it's not that bad after all :D
But it definitely lost that fun and shining it had at the beginning...

Just started playing it, finding it hard to ignore the urge to 'camp' as they call it. It seems tank destroyers (particularly early ones) are at a disadvantage that wasn't intended by the developers due to players hatred of ambush tactics. I guess early on hard core players where getting there king tigers popped by an unseen tank destroyer so ganged together to stop the tactic.

Anyway i would welcome some sort of group of ISMers.

I play WoT a lot -probably too much lol. I play with the same name McLeod.

I play in a clan that does clan wars. The basic premise of clan wars is very similar to the board game risk. You have a 'chip' for each player in your clan, maximum of 100. There are point on the map designated as landing zones - to land on these your team enters a knock-out tournament, the winner gets the chance to play the land owners for the land. If you win the land you start earning gold (in game real life currency) for your clan. Also once you have landed you can attack other adjacent territories by moving you chips across the map. The more territories you own, the more gold you get, some territories give up to 5000 gold per day. In a clan I used to be in we got 100 gold per battle per player and sometimes did 3 or 4 battles a night. Paid for my premium account for few months lol.

I have a youtube channel about WoT http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ1Dd8LI7wKKHWIwXuzMscA

some interesting replays and bits n bobs I've done.

I'm also planning on doing a model based on a WoT tank, with their camo etc on it as my first one back in the hobby for 15 years or so. Just gathering up tools materials etc just now.
There can be only one!
Unless your building two, or three, or four - ah to hell with it.

yeah its a great idea, there are millions of people whot play WoT and introducing the uninitiated into modelling could be great for the hobby as a whole.

I think I've decided on doing a BT-7, prob Tamiya 35327 as its not too expensive and I like some of the Russian camo's in the game.
Might be a while before I can get this projsect off the ground though as not having a job makes getting all the required bits n pieces from scratch quite a lengthy process lol.
Got my airbrush out the other day, Aztec 4709 set, and found a propellent can that's still nearly full after 10 years lol, all still works fine. I dont like using cans but in the absence of a compressor its my only viable option really. Getting little bits of kit here and there should be ready in a month or two hopefully.
There can be only one!
Unless your building two, or three, or four - ah to hell with it.
