Good God man, leave the C/C at home.

All I was doing this morning, (at work, disgusting I know ), was whizzing around the web looking at stuff for collection.
Ended up on the superb site of John's http://www.scalemodelshop.co.uk and bought a few pots of Javis SuperGlue Thin & Super Thin.
Ended up in Sales and popped the Academy 1/35 Magach 6B Gal Batash for £20 in basket.
Not a clue why I did it.
Pretty picture on box and price not bad.....
No research, not built Accadmy before and my first IDF...and no clue.

Turns out it's not a bad AFV and model.
Once here (hurry up postie) ..I shall get on with a thread.

Whoohoo! I understand your excitement John! I've heard good things about this kit. I've also seen it built up a couple of times, with a bit of clever stowage this thing can really sing!
I love IDF vehicles myself so I'm a real sucker for this one,

The big thing about this was the price.
£20 is a steal. Hope its not wrongly priced and they find out before posting
It has huge stowage bins at rear that cry out for filling, and the whole thing looks a real beast.
All that reactive armour and MG's.
I have been meaning to join the IDF train for ages but was looking for something out of the ordinary.
Can't wait to get it

Oh God it's arrived.
Its sooooo pretty and really brutal looking.
I had it delivered to work, so have not been able to have a good looksy yet, apart from a Tea-Break and getting to top off (the box man, the box) and having a squizz through loads and loads of plastic wrapped sprues.
Now, never build an Academy before, but have to say, it looks jolly well packed and nicely laid out.
Can't see any damage in packets, as I fingered them lovingly (good thing they are in plastic bags for the amount of drool
I will be at home this weekend, so will get camera out and do some appropriate Sprue and Parts shots.
I feel quite weak with emotion.

Academy's new offerings are quite an improvement on their older kits.
You should post some sprue shots of it when you get a chance John. I know that myself I wouldn't mind seeing what's in the box.

Good afternoon all

Hope your all well this afternoon?
Well Mrs DW at work, and I have had a busy first day off doing stuff that needed doing après return from Holiday.
Now back in front of PC, and at Bench and finally can get some pictures of this lovely looking kit up on favourite site.
Still don't understand the reasoning behind buying this AFV?
It was the price primarily, and I had no clue about this vehicle at all. Even after 48 hours with this on desk, I at least know a bit more about the Israeli Magach 6B Gal Batash.
These tanks are for all intensive purpose M60. The Accadmy kit is mostly a 1990's M60 kit with new parts to turn it into this beast and essentially that is the basis of the real thing.
The IDF's Magach 6B Batash is the final derivative of the M60 series built for use by the IDF. First appearing in the 1990s it incorporates 4th generation armour developed for the Merkava program. Magach 6B Gal is fitted with a 908 hp engine. The turret has angled sides and an angled mantlet. This variant is sometimes unofficially referred to as Magach 7D or Magach 8. A limited number of vehicles were converted from the Magach 6B Gal variant.
The word Magach is Hebrew for "Ramming Hit" but it has other derivatives as well.
Again, having never built an Academy this is a new excursion into this manufacturer.
Hopefully I can do this justice. We shall see.
This is gonna be built straight out of the box with no PE and using the "Rubber" Band" tracks provided, wich will not be seen much due to the massive armoured skirts.
I am gonna purchase some Value Kit, Tarps and Box kits for this vehicle.
It does come with a very nice supply of Jerry Cans, some lovely rendered wooden boxes and a very nice Rolled Tent. The storage cage on the turret is huge and is worth stuffing with ancillary kit.
The supplied figures I think come from the original Academy M60 Kit, and they look okay but a bit boring and dated. I'm going to have a look for some nice 1/35 IDF figures, maybe using the Meng IDF figures.

Now that's a sweet looking kit John!
The only down side is the two piece barrel and the string tow rope, but to be honest, a one piece barrel and a brass tow rope is just spoiling us haha.
Those are just perks that we've done without for decades, so no big deal.
Looks to be an excellent build bud. I'm envious. She's a beaut.

I also got that kit this year and it is a beauty...

For me the only downside to the kit is the lack of anti-slip on the armor bricks but got some embossing powder to solve that problem.
Also ordered some fruil tracks for mine.

Hi Mike
Yeah the string cables are pretty naff, I may add some brass cable as the aperture for the string is so small with no leeway for opening it out.
As far as I can make out, no barrels are available on the web.....may be wrong though.
May have a start tomorrow.
