WELCOME TO THE 1/32 BIG BIRD BUDDY BUILD!

Post by eightfooticeman »

Hello everybody,

Eightfooticeman here, I'd like to welcome everyone to join in on my 1/32 buddy build. This is going to be run a little different than the normal ISM GB/SIG format. I want everyone that participates to put forth their best effort in building a winged aircraft. Its time to see what everyone has learned here at ISM. Judging will be based on best overall builds with 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. I don't want people to be discouraged from joining because they feel they can't compete. The overall point of this is to take the year and build something that you can be proud to display as part of your collection. Remember as I'm hosting I'm not eligible for prizes. I'm in this for pure modeling satisfaction and to give back to all the members here at ISM that have helped me and so many others improve their modeling skills.

1st Place fly1ngdutchm4n Prize Tamiya F-15C Kit# 60304

2nd Place MarkVerploeg Prize Dragon Tiger 1 Kit# 6252

3rd Place jbellos1 Prize Revell Mig29 UB/GT Kit# 04751

PM me for prizes!

RULES

1. Build must be a 1/32 winged aircraft ranging from WWI to present day.
2. Dioramas are allowed but you will only be judged on the aircraft.
3. Kit must be new and not started.
4. Any and all aftermarket parts may be used, and I encourage it!
5. You must maintain a thread on the forum showing the progress of your build from start to finish. Although judging is not based on overall thread quality it is important to contribute new content to the forum.
6. Multiple entries are allowed.
7. Cut off to join build is June 30, 2015

Again this is a best of the best build! Execution of the build is key, judges will be taking all aspects of the build into consideration. This buddy build is completely sponsored by me with prizes for the top three finishes. I'm also now throwing in a random draw prize for everyone that completes the build. This now gives everyone a chance to walk away with a prize. Top three places are not eligible for random prize draw.

Thank you to ISM for allowing me to host this buddy build!

RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE UNTIL THE START DATE!

Grab yourself either the Academy 1/32 Camel for $19

http://www.bnamodelworld.com/academy/ac-12109

Or the Eduard BF-109E1 Weekend for $33

http://www.bnamodelworld.com/eduard/ed-3401

From around your corner at BNA - less than a price of steak or 3 cups of coffee in a Melbourne Cafe!
I have both of these - great kits and starters into 1/32 scale - I might join in here with either or, or my old Revell Bf-109G

I think I'll be up for this as I have a fair few 1/32 birds in the stash... Short list of Revell He162 with Aires cockpit and other extras, Trumpy 109G6 or 10 or Hasegawa 262... I'll open up the boxes and see which one I fancy... :)
On the bench
1) 1:35 A7V - Need to create or paint on markings
2) 1:35 Academy Tiger 1 - May use this for a destroyed Tiger dio
3) 1:16 Panda 38t
4) 1:32 Revell He162 - starting January for the buddy build
5) 1:16 HobbyBoss Tiger - starting January - RC conversion

Need to find me another canopy for it as I remember you giving me that advise after your Arado build.

Ok, after a lot of research..... I'm out, not competing with Coen and Frans in one GB, no chance! Lol, just kidding! However, I need to wait for funds to get the AM parts I want for a couple of kits I have, way more than I paid for the kits! Damn you Eduard/Barracuda :pistols:

So, in my need to get something going, (need AM bits for the tiger GB too! ) I'm going to start with an oob Hunter FGA.9. Supposed to be a sweet kit straight from the box. May make some of the smaller bits from scratch if need be. But I'm dying to get started, hurry the f#%^ up January!

Image

Classic British jet, set a few records and saw plenty of action around the world. Also, the RAF did a 22 ship loop with the Hunter, never been done before or since, go Brits! Lol!

I'm not sure if I read this and stole your idea or what I had was an original thought? Lol I will be mentioning your build invite on Youtube to try and send more your way although I'm not sure that many of my subs are active on ISM not really sure. I have about thirty five or forty people starting a Go Big or Go Home GB which started out as a 1/32 or larger aircraft with the builder doing what they consider going big = super detail, photo etch over the top paint scheme, but has grown to include all scales and genre. So anyways the build starts on Feb. 1st through the end of april I will ask those building qualifying aircraft to post here as to add to the eye candy. Cheers and best with your build.

Well that sounds great! I would recommend all of your followers to get involved with ISM as it is a wonderful forum. I will say for anyone entering the build, they must be involved with the forum to be eligible for prizes. So spread the word, be apart of something great and join!

Well i didn't plan on joining this buddy build because i think these large scale planes are to big to display for me
Well they take up more space then i like to use for a single build
But i happened to nearly break my legs over Trumpeters P-47D a few weeks back as i fell because i was browsing the shops shelvea and it was sticking out of them
So i tripped over the darn box (not my finest hour :shifty: )
But my mojo on armor is running low at the moment and as i got that kit for only 1/4 of what it should retail for i figured i could join in
And i have some nice and shiny bling to go with it
So why not , i am in
And i will be starting the thread during the week although i did start the kit and hour ago and done a few bits and bobs on the engine as i didn't feel like it to build a cockpit and i am running low on ca glue that i need for the pe
so i hope to catch you guya around when i start the build thread
Cheers
Mark
