1/72nd Revell Halifax GR.II

Started today - should hopefully be a quick and simple build, and a change of scale to be a bit different.

The Revell kit



Along with the Freightdog improvement set



Painted the cockpit with some dry brushing on the instrument panels rather than using the decals.





Then having glued all the windows in place with Gator glue, then closed up the fuselage

Sweet! I want an Halifax, a Wellington and a Sterling to go with my Lancaster! LOL!

Today's work between sneezing

First masked off the side windows with masking fluid, and the main canopy and nose with Parafilm. Painted up the resin Vickers K gun, and fitted to the nose.



Then moved on to making the wings - the first replacement parts which fit nicely, just a bit of Mr Surfacer 500 along the joints

Today's work - added the outer nacelles and blended everything together with some Mr Surfacer 500





Then added the tail surfaces - just the turrets and U/C to go now

Looks good so far. I think I built this kit or a similar one in my yoof. The resin add on parts look nice, what else is in that set?

Today's work - first masked up the turrets with Parafilm M



Then sprayed the turrets black, and fitted to the fuselage



Masked off the wheel wells after spraying with Interior grey-green with blu-tac



Sprayed the entire airframe with Alclad White Primer, then rubbed down



Preshaded with neutral grey, then sprayed the white heavily thinned with Levelling Thinner





This now needs to cure, then I can start masking for the cammo.

Today's work - first off, lots of masking tape....



Then spraying xtracrylics - still don't like these paints



Then unmasked, touch up, and spray a coat of klear over the top

Today, finishing off the Halifax - first Decals



Then a coat of klear, oil wash, fitting the undercarraige, unmasking and finally some exhaust stains







Not one of my best, but a fun quick build though it has reminded me why I rarely do 1/72nd
