1/32 wingnut wings Pflaz DIIIa Jasta 5...

This will be my next bash at a wingnut wings kit. with Pheon decals to represent a plane from Jasta 5 , Boistrancourt autumn 1917.(pilot unknown)

the plan is to build the one that looks like a ferrari





i have the cockpit just about finished it just needs a pin wash here and there and the seat belts fitted.

then on to the engine.







loving this kit so far no real probs to report

Coen the decals i am using on this kit are aftermarket by pheon and that sheet you can see in the picture are the different marking options you get with that decal sheet.

Build so far looks awesome, love the paint work so far. I have had the Sopwith Pup for a while but I am scared I will not do it justice so I warn to get some more work under my belt before I do it. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. How did you do the wood grain finish in the seats?

the pflaz is on hold till i get the sa-2 missile and trailer done !

the wood grain is burnt umber oil paint over a buff base if you go to wingnut wings own site there is some great tips on there for wood grain effects and such like - well worth a look

Thanks Michael. I picked this model because it was the first plane to be flown off a carrier and then landed as well.
On 2 August 1917, while performing trials, Squadron Commander E.H. Dunning landed a Sopwith Pup successfully on board the flying-off platform of HMS Furious, becoming the first person to land an aircraft on a moving ship. However, on his third attempt, a tire burst as he attempted to land, causing the aircraft to go over the side, killing him; thus Dunning also has the dubious distinction of being the first person to die in an aircraft carrier landing accident. The landing arrangements on Furious were highly unsatisfactory. In order to land, aircraft had to manoeuvre around the superstructure. Furious was therefore returned to dockyard hands to have a 300 ft (91 m) deck added aft for landing, on top of a new hangar. The central superstructure remained, however, and turbulence caused by it badly affected the landing deck.
My surname is Dunning hence the attraction. Don't know if he was a relative or not but I hope I can do it justice.
