I love to see where people are located. It adds to the posts depending on what someone says and brings a level of context.
I think it should be mandatory and doesn't impinge on any privacy concerns.

cheers

Yep been trying to get everyone to do it for ages, some people simply refuse to add their location.

It helps immensely when answering questions too.

Agreed.
-It adds to the "international" flavour of the site.
-It also identifies why a post doesn't make "perfect" sense, if they are from a country that doesn't use English as it's first language. BTW, that's not a dig at anyone's language skills, I'm in awe of the level at which everyone here can operate in English, we're not really at the "conversational" level with so many topics and posts being quite detailed and specialized. For the record, my language skills are limited to insults and curses in about 6 languages other than English. That and a couple of hand gestures allow me to drive just about anywhere in the world....
-It also allows to localize equipment. While paints and models can be shipped from anywhere to anywhere, lights, airbrush compressors, etc become useless in any area where they weren't designed to us the voltage/plugs.

can't you as owners put one of those stars next to details when joining up so it must be filled in or no membership.
