Revell 1/32nd FW190 F-8

Post by pmarshall »

Started today, the new Revell FW190 with Eduard's Brassin cockpit

Image

Image

Started with the cockpit, was going very well until I managed to ping one of the set of the long seat belts into the ether. However every 'oh drat' (PG-13 version) moment, has a silver lining. I've ordered a set of HGW Fabric Belts. Carried on with the cockpit though - the brassin cockpit is very very nice.

Looks nice. I have this one in the stash so it will be great to watch your build.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Today's wurger wrangling

First fitted the wings and control surfaces

Image

Then the Engine - very nice, shame you won't see it as i'm closing it all up :-)

Image

Then after much swearing fitted all the cowling pieces together - will need a bit of filling later, as the fit isn't great

Yes, great progress!!
The cockpit looks fantastic, so does the engine... :th:

Hmmm seems only the really high quality manufacturers can pull off a opened or closed cowling kit.
Where You can actually build it closed also without pain!

:cheers2:

Today's wurger worrying

As this is a Revell kit no swastika's are provided - not a problem, just cut some out of vinyl film with my craft robo

Image

Then sprayed black, and unmasked

Image

Then put the decals on

Image

Image

Finally made up the HGW Fabric belts

Love the FW 190

Looks amazing so far Sir, big fan off your paintwork :

Very interested reading you used a machine to make your own paint mask. I would love to make my own masks. I think painted on crosses and roundels and stuff, looks so much nicer. Also easier when you want your markings to be chipped or bleached.
Can you tell me more about the machine, like where you bought it?

Thanks :th:

I've got a CraftRobo C330 which is now long OOP, but the current equivalent is a Sihouette Portrait

http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/shop/machines/portrait

No idea where you'd get one now - mine is about 5 years old.

You then need to find a source for masking vinyl to cut ideally Orafilm which is very thin.

Thanks Pete, great info.

And you know what, I looked at the Silhouette website, selected international distributors and found one in the Netherlands. Even better, it's like a 15 min drive from my home
Deffo gonna look into it.

Thanks again :th:
