Are you talking about gloss clear coats? If so Alclad's Aqua Gloss is pretty good. A lot of guys here use it.
Regards, Dave.

Yup! Alclad Aqua Gloss is pretty much the best acrylic gloss that I've every used. It's pretty much bullet proof. It even stands up to the acrylic thinners once it's cured.
The only other thing that I've used that comes close is Model Masters Gloss Clear, harder to get if your in the UK.

Alright boys,
So first of all thanks to you both greatly appreciated. Yup i definately think aqua gloss is the key but I need a matte finish too. If there's an acrylic matte anywhere Ill take it.

So I know that the alclad varnishes come pre thinned but I'm not sure how to clean my airbrush after.

Cya later

I would second Alclad Aqua gloss, which is safe to use on Acrylics. I also use their various semi matt, light sheen and matt on my models to get some tonal differences. The packaging says that aside from the Aqua Gloss they aren't safe on acrylics. While I have used them directly in light coats on acrylic finishes, I tend to use the Aqua Gloss first as a base coat and then the matt finishes as needed. This works very well for me and I am very happy with the finish they provide. The range is worth a look in my opinion.

Alclad aqua gloss for gloss

Testers dullcote (little glass bottle with purple label) for matt, not as fragile as the ak matt i used to use

Both the best I've found after testing a lot of them,

Not even on the same planet.
Humbrol is only good for one thing in my opinion... Holding your bin down on the floor.
Dullcote definitely for the win, super tough and easy to use. It's a lacquer though, so it won't fit your acrylic requirements. The AK is really good for that. No where even close to being as though, as Paul said.
The Alclad flats take a really long time to dry as well.
I use them all the time over acrylics and they harm nothing, in fact I've never had and product of that nature have a reaction.
I've actually never even heard of it happening.
That's not saying that it's not possible... It's just news to me.

I've got the acrylic varnish version of the Humbrol matte not the thick version as I was first confused with these too but you can find them both on emodels!

Thanks guys :)
