A little more help please

Post by wolfsbane666 »

I am about to undertake my first armour model and would like some opinions on a couple of things from the big guns on here. First, when I used to make models, back when Victoria was on the throne, I used to paint all the accessories and add-on pieces separately then add them to the main body but since I've been following the builds on YouTube and on here it seems you guys assemble everything and paint the base colour on then brush paint the tools, clamps etc. Is this the best way to do it? secondly what is the current thinking on the best matte clear coat for air brushing? All opinions are much appreciated. Thanks for all you help so far and I hope you don't mind me asking these rookie questions.

Yes thats the easiest and fastest way to paint accessories and for matt coat I've tried a lot and for my testers dullcote in th little glass bottle mixed 50/50 with some cellulose thinner is by far the best matt clear.

Which cellulose thinners do you use? It is pretty powerful stuff and is not that friendly towards painted surfaces!

I just use the cheap off the shelf stuff from the DIY shops for the dullcote myself... I believe that's what Paul uses as well.

Just had a look around and a question occurs to me " Where the hell can I buy testers dullcote in the UK?" I can find the aerosol but not the liquid.
