ok me and the little one were walking around the local shopping centre when we popped into The Works so i could check if the Star Wars Ship Schematics book had been reduced any, as it turned out no its still £40 down from £60!, Ill hang out and see if it drops to £20

Anyways Lauren pipes up from behind a stack of stuff 3 times her size 'look daddy theres your plane your gonna make next' Well colour me surprised when i go look and see one of these in amongst the usual Spitfires and Messerschmitts.



im impressed, i only took my kit outta the stash a couple of days ago. Well £2 later and with much rejoicing from Lauren we thought we might as well do a build log as well. BTW Lauren is five...and a half. Dont let this fool you tho, shes already got a revell snaptight Millennium Falcon under her belt. It took me 41 and a bit trips round the sun to acheive that!

ok, back of the box, looks like a handful of bits plus some acrylic paint and a brush. what kid doesnt like seeing that on the side of a box.


there is no painting guide in the box, so we will just make it look like the photos on the box. Contents of the box..


yup two sprues and the promised holy grail of "Brush And Paints" with one page of instructions. First things First, reading of said instructions. 'daddy, there is only 3, there is 3 steps!'


well like a flash and a snippety snip by Lauren wielding the trusty Xurons and me gingerly guiding her...no blood was spilled in the making of this model.


the two halves were quickly tidied up and the wingy bits snipped ready. I chose to use glue cause i forsee some heavy turbulance in this Falcons future. Deliberate/Shameless product placement shots.


all buttoned up and looking like a Falcon. Some dad strength was required to start the connections but once there it was easy going.


oh yeah theres a tiny sheet of stickers as well, forgot about them. Not the water stickers i was informed but the normal ones. That was me told. A quick pose for the camera.


Weird. Weird paint, i was expecting something like the little tubs you get in airfix gift sets.....noo, what you get is acrylic paste. Imagine smooth peanut butter and youve nailed it. So out came the pallet and some time later we had a reasonable first wash coat..


it took a little dish washing liquid soap to break the surface tension so the paint would play ball but we won it over and liberally applied paint to just about everything in the near vicinity.


it was at this point that Laurens energy just evaporated, like it does, PPPffffftttt. So after tucking her in i used up the rest of the dark grey paint we had mixed and lined up for a parting photo on this our first instalment. Dont know when we will get to paint the stripes on cause school starts back tomorrow but please stay tuned, same bat channel!

At least not all Us young people are getting our brains turned to mush with the newest video game.

I would take a new tooled Airfix kit over any of Ubisoft's
franchises, I would rather go hiking than spend all day looking at a computer screen.
