Kits you'd like to see in 2016

Post by Willem »

Ok. This topic has been done before but not for a wee while.

What do you want to see announced for release?

You have two choices. Please specify scale and subject, and just for added interest, which company would you like to make it?

My choices:-

1) 1/48 Beaufort torpedo bomber. Can't see anyone but Airfix doing this though Trumpeter as an outside bet.

2) 1/48 De Havilland Comet (air racer not the airliner). Again, Airfix?

There you go. My wish list. Add yours.

I would like to see

1/48 NH-90 Helicopter or TTH - 90(this is one of the most widely used modern helicopters in various militaries around the world yet only exists in 1/72. - Revell would be nice as they have done the 1/72 NH-90

1/72 Modern Air Control Tower - More 1/72 diorama kits that have an Aircraft focus rather than AFV simply because there are more 1/72 aircraft kits rather than AFV - Airfix as they do quite nice 1/72 diorama kits - maybe also Miniart or Blackdog.

1/72 Aircraft Hangar - Same as above (I know some kits exist from scale model scenery but I would prefer a full on plastic fully detailed model kit)

1/35 Australian Bushmaster - Showcase Models Australia use to make this kit (but only make it on order now) would like to see Revell give it a shot as their 1/35 Dingo 2 is awesome.

More 1/24 Vehicle Kits from Meng - If you dont know yet their first 1/24 kit i.e. Ford F-350 is a superb vehicle kit, they should really make more of these.

1)Tamiya 1/48 M1 Abrams
2)Tamiya 1/48 M16 halftrack
3)Tamiya 1/48 M3 Stuart
4)Airfix 1/72 or 1/48 P-39 Airacobra
5)Airfix 1/48 or 1/72 P36 Hawk

Sorry, could not just pick two. Yes, I only build in 1/48 or 1/72 with some exceptions :)

1) Tamiya 1/48 Churchill to go with their early DAK Tiger so I can do a knocking out of Tiger 131 dio
2) 1/35 CMP C30 truck to do a 2 pounder portee. Never been able to find one, its always the C15/C60. I think Mirror Models may be doing a short wheelbase C60 that may fill the gap.
3) 1/35 Object 268 Soviet Tank Destroyer for my World of Tanks stash. Looks like Trumpeter may have this coming based on web info.
4) More 'cool stuff' from films, comics, games, etc.

Only two?! It's at least three from me....

Buccaneer 1/48 or bigger

Same for British Phantoms (hurry up HK models!)

And a 1/35 AFV 43 family in styrene

Aircraft by trumpeter, armour by Dragon would be my choice.

1:48 Buccaneer as well. I have no idea why nobody has done one yet (well other than the now rare and OOP Airfix one) as it would be a hit seller.
1:35 MAZ 543 variants. So the A-222 Bereg Coastal Defence Gun etc. I believe Trumpeter are planning several variants now they have the base truck chassis available.

A 1/48 Spitfire F Mk 24 whether it be a new tool or rebox of the Airfix kit. I've been searching around for one to go with my Supermarine alpha and omega idea (essentially the first and last operational versions of the Spitfire and Seafire and the F 24 is the last piece of the puzzle) but the couple I have seen around tend to be far too expensive.
And generally just anything a little unusual, unknown or out of left field

A 1/35 or 1/48 scale M728 or M728A1 CEV,
Maybe a 1/35 or 1/48 scale M-88 Hercules (again any 88, A1,A2, or A3)

I got a yen for the modern-ish funnies

A new tool 1/48 B17F or G by anyone who knows what they're doing.

1/24 Mustang P51B/C rumoured by Trumpeter - come on Trumpy, give me what I want or I'll sulk all year you rascals.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

The old Airfix 1:48 Buccaneer wasn't a very nice kit from what I remember building it back when it was released nothing fit properly. Though it has recessed panel lines

A 1:48 buccaneer for me too would really love a nice modern tool one
1:48 B17 too the Airfix 1:72 one looks great so if they could upscale that I think they would be on to a winner.
And non resin 432 would be nice would love to do one in my old units markings the Desert Rats 7ABSS

Yup. Figured the Bucc would feature quite highly and again, I'm surprised it hasn't been done.

With you on the Brit Phantoms. Maybe Eduard could strike a deal and use the Hasegawa kits and then embellish them or wait for Academy then Eduard can go to town on it.

I wish someone would build a decent 1/48 C172. Most numerous civvy aircraft (maybe most numerous aircraft full stop) ever built and the only one you can get hold of is a pretty crummy Minicraft one, in fact I think they only do the float version now.

So I'll go Tamiya 1/48 C172.
Regards, Dave.

Generally more 1/35 modern British figures would be good. There are a good number of British armoured vehicles around now (Challengers, Warrior etc.) but very little in the way of figures for them.

I'd like a TOG 2 or a new twin turret 7TP. I'm actually very surprised we haven't got the TOG in any scale. Hell, I'd even take a Maus re-box.

I'd like to see a new Blenheim mk.IV or mk.I in 1/48 scale. The Classic Airframes kit is way too old and hard to build a good looking model out of.
I'd also like to see a new Tamiya 1/32 kit, maybe a bf-109 or fw-190 would be something nice since they haven't done any german 1/32 aircraft yet.
A 1/32 MiG-21bis is something I've been waiting for too. If only Trumpeter could change their older MiG-21MF into a Bis. :wall:

It doesn't only apply to afv kits but also aircraft kits and all other stuff too.

Come on all well known kit-manufacturers, do something a bit different to the rest!
But then imagine if Tamiya would do a 1/32 Convair XFY-1. :jd:

Ridiculously large, heavy (81 tons :wtf:) and impractical tank with only reasonable armour for its weight class designed by the Brits in early WWII for a perceived battlefield and doctrine more at home in the Great War. Only one built (IIRC) and it was unsurprisingly a failure despite being capable of mounting a 17 pounder. Buuuuuut it's a really interesting concept, design and history plus it looks cool so :nena: to history gimme a TOG!
See also, the German Neubaufahrzeug and Soviet T-35 and the "super heavy tank" concept in general
