Hi fellas,

I'm waiting on kits to arrive, so I picked this up from my lhs today.



Box full of plastic



Two glossy paint guides



Decals for two options



Usual trumpeter instructions, clear and easy to follow.



The sprue shots...

Two sets of wings. One for folded, one for extended.



Clam shell type fuselage





Again, two sets of horizontal stabs for folded and extended.



Four identical sprues of ordnance









Clear parts look nice, but there is a seam to remove. Little sheet of PE is a nice bonus.



So that's what's in the box. Now a little history.



The Sukhoi Su-33 (Russian: Сухой Су-33; NATO reporting name: Flanker-D) is an all-weather carrier-based twin-engine air superiority fighterdesigned by Sukhoi and manufactured by Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Production Association. It is a derivative of the Su-27 "Flanker" and was initially known as the Su-27K. First used in operations in 1995 aboard the carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, the fighter officially entered service in August 1998, by which time the designation "Su-33" was used. Following the break-up of the Soviet Union and the subsequent downsizing of the Russian Navy, only 24 aircraft were produced. Attempted sales to China and India fell through.

Compared with the Su-27, the Su-33 has a strengthened undercarriageand structure, folding wings and stabilators, all for carrier operations. The wings are larger than on land-based aircraft for increased lift. The Su-33 has upgraded engines and a twin nose wheel, and is air refuelable. In 2009, the Russian Navy ordered the MiG-29K as a replacement for the Su-33.

This should keep me busy until my order arrives! Best get started. Cheers guys

It certainly looks nice on the sprues, but I guess the proof is in the pudding! I've never had a bad trumpeter kit so far though, hoping this continues in that vein.

Cool subject for the group build. Love the multi-blue camouflage on the real birds. Enjoy the project.

Yes, it's a really nice kit. I just couldn't get into it, wasn't really enjoying it so cut my losses, and got it out the way. There are a couple of pics in the reveal section cheers guys
