New dragon Africa Tiger 1 March release

Hi,

i have just pre -ordered the latest Dragon Africa Tiger 1 due out in March. Does anyone know if it is just a rebox of kit 6608 or if there are any significant
differences ?

Try Scalemates, they should tell you if its a new kit, new parts or a re-box.

I ordered it from HLJ Models - Hobby Link Japan.

Its definitely not kit 6608 as they have that already as low stock and they are stating this Africa Tiger is a March release.

I've done a,quick bit of digging ang that kit has been sitting there since at least late last summer. The kit number is out of and older series, it's not up with their newer kit numbers, and there's no news of it on dragons release calendar.
I wouldn't be preordering that Richard, if you did I'd cancel that until mor information on it comes up.
I did that a couple of times on other kits and got burned.
Besides, you usually pay a lot more for preorders than if you wait a month or two for the price to drop for these kits.
$51 for a dragon tiger is too low for me to believe that it's a genuine article new tiger kit. They usually pop out around $75-80 just to start.

I believe its a slight retool (read: add a few more sprues) to make another sub variant of the DAK Tigers. David Bryden told me it will properly cover the "Heidi" tank used by the 501st battalion, whereas the 6608 new kit is for earlier variants.

It gets all too confusing. Be good if Dragon just released "THE" kit - with all the additional sprues so you can make whatever frackin version you want. Wouldnt be hard, but Ive long given up trying to work out what Dragon tries to do...

It is a real kit. It will cover the other 501 Tigers as was said. Keep in mind that Dragon tend to push releases back by weeks/months. So if that says March I'd think June. And you'll have plenty of time to see the promo renders by then.

Thanks Adam for the update.

I have kit 6608 ,have not built it and so after this discussion had a good close look at the plastic.

I will say this -

kit 6608 is fantastic and if this new release replaces the out of date tools with new correct ones then this new kit will be outstanding.

All we want now is magic tracks with hollow guide horns - and we can all leave our wives !!!!!!!
