Rifling

Hi,

I have another question. I have been trying to find aftermarket rifling and doesn't seem to be any available. Do you have any sure fire techniques for home manufacturing such an item.

You can buy barrels with rifling moulded into them, though they tend to look overscale to my eyes in the ones that I've seen.
The same of the rifled barrels that come with some kits. It looks over done for effect.
Creating it by hand would be difficult as the rifling is very measured and if you made your grooves uneven it would be really noticeable.
But adding it with a hobby knife by notching the inner lip of the muzzle is the only way that I could think of, you really can't see well into the barrels (at least at 1/35) so rifling the entire inside of the barrel wouldn't be nessisary I would think.
Just the outer edge would need it.

a lot of barrels come without, Amour research and On the mark models used to do a PE version. However they are long gone now.

Not at this stage Coen. Just thinking ahead. It would have been nice to have a generic set on hand.

I think that I might lose what little mind that I have left trying to get those to lay tight against the inside of a barrel.

I'll bet a real modeller could use those though haha.
I might just try and find a nice resin barrel with the rifling moulded on than try my hand at those.

Thanks for that...much appreciated....they are actually called " On The Mark Models" , but an easy mistake to make as the company name is in smaller print and down the label a piece.
I'm not really sure if they are still in business, Sprue brothers have a small selection of brackets and there has been a scattered selection turning up on ebay of various PE. All fairly expensive when freight is taken into account, actually even before that.

I would think on anything smaller than an 88 it wouldn't read. I got the after market rifling for my Sturmtiger. But that's a pretty large barrel. So it shows if it's smooth.

I think even an 88 at 1/35 is too small. Maybe a 1/16 kit could be enhanced but you could still forget everything with a muzzle brake on it.

Its also a health and safety issue. You get that barrel close enough to see the detail, you are going to poke yourself in the eye!!
