Revell 1/35 T-34/76 (Model 1943)

Post by ManCupboardModels »

My New Years resoloution is to build more as I only managed to complete 3 builds last year, so I'm starting off with this Ruskie Tank for this GB while waiting for my F-16 to arrive for the Fighting Falcon SIG..... Plus I'm hoping to enter at least another 3 or 4 GB's so wish me luck! :th:

Had this in the stash for a while, so its the perfect opportunity to get it built......

A snippet of History from the box:

At the beginning of the Russian campaign, the Russian T-34 Main Battle Tank came as a shock to the German troops. It combined mobility with armour protection and firepower in an almost perfect way. The 1943 model features a 76.2mm F-34 main armament and 100 rounds of ammunition. Its weight was 31 tonnes and its engine delivered 500 bhp enabling a maximum speed of 55km/h (33mph).

Between 1940 and 1944, a total of 35,000 T-34/76's were built. The German Wehrmacht could only counter the T-34 after the Panther and Tiger tanks were developed and entered service.

No real problems so far. Couple of iffy fit issues as the upper hull seems to be slightly warped. Chairs were a bit fiddly (5 parts each), which I suppose I could of left out really as the whole things going to be closed up! But hey ho. Be back at it later :cheers2:

This is an interesting piece of Revell kit, with an interior too? :eeek:
Now you built the chairs you know you gotta leave the front hatch open just to encourage us guys to try and peek inside on the final reveal.
Couple of figures in them seats, Commander out the top hatch and you all good dude..:  :th:
Well, i'm trying to encourage you to not button it up.. lol...
Whatever you choose, i wish you all the best and continued success...
I'll try and keep an eye on the progress as you go.... will there be a small display to sit it on?
Stay safe and keep well mate.. :thumb1:

Cheers Andy mate. Hope your keeping well?

Appreciate the encouragement to not button her up, but too late I'm afraid, lol!

Not sure about a dio, doubt it to be honest. Ever get a build that your not really enjoying and just want it out the way? That's me on this one. Not sure why.....: Maybe because I enjoyed my build for the Desert Rats GB so much, and this kit isn't as good? :?

Just about to post some more progress pics, she's all done bar the painting, weathering and decals :th:

Rushing through this (when work doesn't get in the way), to get it finished. Not very often I have a build that I don't enjoy, but this is one. Can't really explain why to be honest :

Anyways, she's all built up and primed:

Crack on with the painting, weathering and decals on my next days off. Apologies for the lack of descriptive in the pics, but I'm posting this at work and in a rush before the Boss catches me.... Me----- :bash: -----Boss

Got the basecoat down (Vallejo Russian Green), then tried my hand at free hand camo with my Iwata Neo. Quite happy with it for a first attempt, but its by far from perfect. Also painted up the tow cables, and various bits and bobs:

Here we go for first try at feehand camo....

Hands were shaking a bit.... lol

Turned out quite subtle, which I quite like to be honest.

A few details painted up:

Managed to get the road wheels back off for painting...
