Thinners and levelling thinners

What's the difference and where would you use levelling thinners? I'm thinking about the Mr Hobby stuff.

Not entirely sure of the exact chemistry but i think the mlt has a retarder or flow improver in it as opposed to hardware store cellulose thinner. I use it when i need a good smooth finish ie aircraft or cars rather than armour.

The leveling thinner is also much less aggressive in its strength. Hardware cellulose thinner is designed to remove, well, just about anything, so it's action can sometimes eat the primer coat or even the plastic itself which leads to un-level surfaces. The hobby thinners have much less strength so will be unlikely to do that unless you try pretty hard.

Also the Mr. Hobby Leveling Thinner is intended for use with the Mr. Color line of paint which is an enamel paint. But the weird thing is it will allow it to be used with their Mr. Hobby line of paints which is acrylic in small amounts. The leveling thinner has a mentioned a retarder and flow improver added into the mix. It is weaker in strength than hardware cellulose thinner but that also will not mix with acrylic paints at all.
