Gluing AFV tools and stowage after painting

Hi as I usually make a mess of painting tools after they are cemented to the model I wanted to look at options to glue after painting. I realise this won't be as strong.

Does anyone have any advice on this, particularly what glue to use. I was thinking PVA.

A gel based super glue would be best. Not much adhesion with PVA but you might be ok.

Should be. Sometimes the join can break and pull the paint off if you're just gluing onto a surface but its rare, I find. If you've got location marks then scrape the paint off where the glue will go to be sure. If there are holes for placement then its a doddle.

Hey Steve I saw someone using a technique I hadn't seen, or tried before. When doing the base coat the bloke used masking fluid to cover the areas where glue would be needed later, eg tool areas. After the base coat had cured he just pulled off the dried masking fluid to reveal the bare plastic.

Thanks thats a good idea! I worry about plastic cement, especially extra thin type, damaging paint work. I think at 1/35 I might be better at masking and painting than at 1/48. It may be worth the experiment.... What could go wrong eh?

Yeah CA glue is what you need, i used to do it this way, but find it easier to now to just paint them when attached to the vehicle.

PVA dries clear and is perfect for occasions like that.... I sometimes use Flat or Clear coats ... put tool in place... dab with Clear coat and voila... !

I find... C.A. at this stage cold frost nearby paints... but it offers "better adhesion" for sure. best of luck !
