LSSAH Tigers at Kursk

What do you do when you find multiple references with different color schemes??

I have been inspired by CoenC's Kursk Tiger post, but am very new to Tigers. I have read/heard that there is no known pic of Wittmann's tank but there are of other LSSAH tanks during Kursk. Here are three illustrations that show both Wittmann's tank and another I assume from the same company.

Which one is most accurate? I try not to be THAT GUY who waits and waits and waits before he paints hoping he will find the perfect obscure photo or "definitive" description or "long lost" unit field manual...

This makes me want to build a Tiger. I bought a dragon kit but realized way after the fact that is was a Tiger (P). While I plan to build it some time in the next two decades, what's a good normal Tiger kit? I don't have the skills to do justice to a Dragon kit quite yet.

A cheaper tiger with reasonable quality
AFV CLUB http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/r ... v35079.htm OR the transport version ( both have a low parts count)
going down scale is the Tamiya, and academy tigers which are older tooling but cheaper again. Academy does one with an interior...requires more thought or leave it out.
Zvezda is a cheap one with reasonable detail , but can have issues with moldings
Meng has a new tiger and does a cheap version. Meng does good work normally.

That's my limited take on the subject, but depends on what you want. If you want molded on zim then you only have two choices Meng and dragon. Kursk tiger didn't have zim...i think ?

I would go with the AFV Club if you want to increase your skills, low part count , good moldings although sometimes have a few pin maks with some kits, looks like a tiger. At a later stage you could strip the paint job and do it again. It is a good enough kit to do that.... under estimated by many.

Just a small sidenotes from me to correct some things. AFV Tigers are of later variation, not suitable for Kursk period, if I am not mistaken. The best option, for me at least, would be to go for Zvezda Tiger because you get a cheap Kursk Tiger OOB, just buy a set of engine grilles for it for maximum accuracy. I build it, it is not bad, you even get link and lenght tracks with hollow guide horns.
Meng and Takom Tigers are Tiger II, nonexistent during Kursk.
