Clear canopy to painted canopy frame

Hi everyone, I'm new to the board. I am in the middle of my second build ever (apart from childhood stuff) and have a question:

I have read posts about gluing clear parts. I have read posts about gluing painted stuff. But I have not found anything about gluing a clear canopy to a painted canopy frame. Any help?

My present build is the Revell 1/48 F-15E. The entire canopy portion of this build is very troublesome (I think the cockpit halves didn't go together quite right), but that's a question for a different thread.

Generally you will use a special glue for clear parts that does not fog up the canopy with gasses. In my limited experience, it works pretty well regardless if the model is painted or not. As for the fitting problems, pictures would help us assess.

I assume the issue would be with the glue potentially changing the appearance of the painted frame where it makes contact with the canopy? Perhaps testing with some spare parts would be the best starting point, just to be sure.

Danger is in the glue ...like CA...fogging the clear parts. It is why a glue for clear parts is used.

I have both PVA white and the Testors Clear Parts glue for the canopy... But I wasn't sure if it would adhere the clear canopy to a primed and painted canopy frame. I have, in the past, attempted to use Testors liquid cement to glue together primed parts... only to find out that it won't melt through the primer and fuse the parts.

That's why I'm not sure which is the correct adhesive for this situation. Unprimed clear to primed poly.

Here's the canopy frame glued in place. Now I need to attach the canopy to it. So, just Testors Clear Parts glue should hold it in place?

I don't know about Testors but Microscale, who make MicroSet/Sol, do a glue called Kristal Klear which I believe can stick clear parts to painted parts.

PVA all the way... dries clear, you can wipe it off with a moist q-tip !
Just remember to blacked the Edges of your glass parts before painting or gluing with a Black sharpie ! to prevent light to shine or reflect back into the part which makes clear parts look toy-like...

good tip, not a plane builder yet. BUT I shall try to remember that.
