RSO with 105mm Gun

Hi guys,

The latest addition to my oddling collection is the RSO with mounted 105mm Gun.

Here are the inspiring pictures.





As far as I know, there is no kit of this vehicle with mounted gun.
So again two kits were bought.

The RSO from Dragon.



And the Wespe from Tamiya. I looked around for a 105mm Gun, but couldn't find one, so I bought the Wespe, which also contains a 105mm gun.



When you look at the next two pictures, you see the there are basically 2 different cabin types.
A round one nr.1 and a square one the nr.3.





And as we look at our model with the mounted 105mm gun, we see that the cabin is some kind of a hybride of these two.



Lucky for me, the Dragon kit contained both kabin types! So I didn't have to scratch build the doors and back. The only modification was to make the back a little narrower.

Here's the cabin that I put together this way.



The chassis straight forward.



The gun built.





I dug up a windshield in my leftovers box.
And assembled some sort of console to mount the gun on.
And here's the completed build with tracks.

















That's the completed build.
Maybe I'll apply the winter ketten additions to the tracks, that also came with the Dragon kit. If I think they look good.
Because I'm going to paint the RSO with winter camo. So that would be suitable.



Next up: Painting.

Yeah. I think they wood have to drive backwards whilst firing, to prevent that.
Perhaps one of the reasons there were so few..

Hans, I've got the same Dragon RSO can you recall how many tracks per side as usual Dragon instructions don't say how many per side .

Hi Joker,

Yes. The Dragon instructions mentioned 70 parts per side.
I put together 70 and had to take off 3 in the end to make it fit. Even including sag.
Than I did the other side. Put 67 on and came 3 short! So I guess, depending on how loose you glue them
together and how much sag you want, it's somewhere between 67 and 70.

Hi guys,

Painting. First black primer.



Painted the wooden back brown for later chipping effect.



Base color after HS.



After chipping.



Added white after another coat of HS.



After chipping the winter camo.
