Sprue goo clean up

Post by DougvH »

Folks,

I've mixed up some Evergreen Styrene sheet chips with TET in a spare paint mixing bottle to make some thin filler. That went just fine and added some blue paint to the mix so i can clearly see where i have applied it. Problem I'm having is the clean up, as I just returned to the hobby i didn't have a nearly empty TET bottle, so i need to use a paint brush to apply the home made filler, but what to clean the brush with afterwards? I attempted to use some mineral spirits, and basically caused a gooey mess. Thoughts?

I believe lacquer thinner will do it.

I don't use a brush to to apply it. I use a micro brush handle...slice the end off to a thin bendable chisel shape. If and when it drys you just pull it off. The melted sprue... if not quiet the shape required can either be prodded and poked around when partially dry or I apply tet to that and smooth with the tet brush.
