Tamiya 1/48 - Republic P-47 Thunderbolt

Post by James44R »

This is my first build for 10 years since getting back into the hobby and my first using an airbrush. This was a great way to get back into the hobby the model went together easily with only the decals were a nightmare for me. It was painted with a mixture of Revell and Tamiya paints. Some mistakes with this as I went along but I am happy-ish with the end result. Hopefully my next build will be better.

Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

All the best

James

Looks great, if you can ever be bothered paint invasion stripes, always look better and decals seem to crap themselves and be just as much trouble. Really like it though.

Top job, really nice clean build. I would agree with Lighthouse, decal invasion stripes never look right as they were just paint brushed on in reality so they look a lot rougher than a decal. In fact I would paint any large area that would normally be decalled. By the time you hae faffed around getting a big decal to fit properly it's often quicker just to spray it.
Regards, Dave.

Thanks for the tips, the invasion strips were the worst part of the whole build. I will most definitely be practising painting them so I don't have to use those kind of decals again.
