What part of modeling gives you enjoyment?

Post by GMahaffey »

I want to ask the community what is their favorite part and least favorite part of the hobby that gives them enjoyment. For me it is always the construction of the model. Following the instructions and gluing the parts together. The way you can see the true progress of the build is the enjoyment I get. For the least favorite it has to be decaling. The larger markings are not the least enjoyable but the stencils.

I really enjoy the actual building too. I don't really enjoy painting too much, but I don't mind decalling at all.

That's me as well....priming and base coating are Ok, but after that I am looking forward to the next one.

All of it mate.

From the thrill of ordering something online or deciding on what to buy in a model shop to building, painting and weathering. Love it all.

Love the directness of an AFV build but can also enjoy the stop start nature of an aircraft. Only thing I’m not keen on is death by decal. That’s why I don’t build modern jets!
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Yep, I am pretty much with the above....ordering, opening the package up and especially opening up a new boxed kit and looking through the sprues, decals and instructions. Love that and still do it to some kits in my stash every once in a while.
I like decalling steps...it brings the kit to life!!!

Okay here's a serious answer..... I really like the challenge! Give me a kit that fits together perfectly and I'll get bored. Not saying I'm any good at it, but you'll never hear me moaning about a bit of flash!

Building, painting...I think I enjoy all parts of modeling, except for maybe choosing which kit to build next.
