Help with Paint call out - Eduard 8281

Post by AlexBB »

Hiya,
Would be grateful of some help with the Paint call out on Eduard kit 8281 - Spitfire MK IXc late version..

I have managed to convert a lot of the GSi Creos (Gunze) Aqueous / Mr Color references to Vallejo Model Color or Model Air...

But I am struggling on the following;

H13 / C3 Flat Red - vallejo says 71.039 but that is no where near as bright a shade as H13 ??

H94 / C138 Clear Green - cant find anything

H330 / C361 Dark Green - cant find anything

C362 Ocean Gray - cant find anything

C364 Aircraft Gray Green - listed as BS283 should = 71.126 but shades look way off looking at online ref's? maybe should be 71.010 Interior Green?? (this is cockpit interior)

I have checked the 'Ultimate paint Conversion Chart' mentioned elsewhere on the site but can't find anything... I may be not using it right, but have tried different ways of searching!

I downloaded that from looking at the ‘paint converter’ thread but it’s a tenner and there is only 1 review and says nothing about paint conversions!

I didn't pay £10, maybe its changed?

When I downloaded it the paint converter was free, but you could pay extra for some of the other features on there :)

There are now 2 versions apparently to comply with Apple store rules... The light version has very little content and no paint conversions.

I am not keen on paying a tenner just to see if they have the conversions.

It seems some of the ones on the internet are not up to date and don't include some of the colors that come in sets..

C361, 352 & 363 are in Mr Color RAF Mid to Late WW2 Set Ref: CS-684 but I cannot find them available on their own or so far any conversions to other paints.

I need to use Vallejo as can get that local and can airbrush without a spray booth and mainly and more important my wife don't moan about the smell!!! which is why I can't spray Tamiya or Mr Color at present till we move house and I get my own Hobby area....

So just need to find conversions for those listed in first post if anyone can help please ????...

Well having not been able to match the Mr Hobby colors to the Vallejo ones and the 'Ultimate Paint Chart' does not really help as it seems all of the Mr Hobby numbers are not listed, it looks like the ones in sets are not there, maybe they are newer than the list!! It seems C361, C362 & C363 are only in set CS-684 Mr Color RAF Mid to Late WW2 Set.

So I have decided to get the Vallejo WWII British Aircraft Colours RAF/FAA Vallejo Paint Set 71.189

From what I can see this cover all of the daylight schemes and includes the IAF/IDF Interior Green 71.126 for the cockpit so hope all should be good.

Tamiya has ocean gray (XF-82), clear green (X-25), flat red (XF-7), dark green (XF-81). Hope this will help you.

Hi,
I do have the Tamiya clear Green and for how much I need to use will likely brush paint with a little flow improver and have now identified I don't need the flat red as that is only for the prop spinner on paint option D.

As mentioned above I can't airbrush the Tamiya paints due to the smell so currently waiting on the Vallejo set to arrive in the post. :th:
