That's an Ikea desk. I had the same one at my parents house, until my Mum gave it away while I was at Uni to my Uncle!

When I get a proper space to have a bigger set up than I have where I am now, that's the desk I am going to buy, as its plenty deep enough to have storage on the desk, without it encroaching into actual painting/modelling space. Plus you can get the extensions for it, like Matthew has there.

The nearest Ikea to me is about 750 km away so I don't think that I'll be popping in to take a peak.
But I have a Jysk so I'll see if they have one.

Some great work spaces, getting very jealous. Just waiting for one of my kids to move out (kids, they're 21 & 23!!) and I might be able to wangle having a whole room - dream on!!

Just got back from my hols and was going through the holiday snaps and found the following pic, which I don't remember taking. Just recently converted the computer desk and if you look closely you can still see the little blighter. Not ideal, but better than my previous "mobile" set-up. Plus, only having recently set it up, it's still clean and tidy.

BTW, the black thing to the left is my punch bag and this gets used when things go wrong - i spend a LOT of time on it!!!

I think estate agents & realtors would describe it as bijou, but its mine and everything is to hand. Plus, the room behind the wall is our downstairs shower room with hot and cold running water - perfect!

Now, if I could only get my wife to bring me food and drinks when I ring a bell I'd be completely set up. When I suggested the bell thing, all she said was, "try it if you want a punch in the eye!"

I've got a small miniature mancave...
It's a corner in our living room. Got a kabinet that holds everything and some storage boxes.
It's small, but enough and nicer for my wife when i'm in the same room...

My wife prefers me in a different room as she can't stand the smell - oh, and she thinks the paints and thinners smell as well!!!

Nice work areas everyone. Getting jealous on some of them.
I just moved into a new apartment. And priority nr 1 was to get a dedicated work area for modeling. No more kitchen table / computer bench!!

lol Pauls paint racks look like heaven to me ha ha. I get excited having two sixteen bottle sets of Vallejo Model Air and two eight bottle paint sets of Vallejo Model Air and a few bits and bobs of Testors and Model Masters bottles for brush painting ha ha ha.

We've tried to get him into paint hoarder anonymous a few times but he bites, spits, and levitates off the bed. He even stabbed Lee in the toe with a paint brush once.

or glues, washes, filters, sanders, masking tapes,pigments,primers, varnishes, tools, airbrushes. Lol

In all seriousness Id be embarressed to show you all m work area. Im currently in the process of saving money in between getting all the supplies I need to model and materials to build a proper partition room in my basement to have a proper work area to work in. Im gonna get one of those this thread is worthless without pics because Id literally be embarressed to show you my work area. Its not acceptable by any means but the only means I have to build models and make it work to the best of my ability until I can upgrade to the work area Id like in the long run.

You shouldn't be embarrassed at all, we all started off with nothing and built up what we have.

I only have what I have as I was in a massive car crash, part of my payout paid for my modelling workshop. I know I'm lucky for what I have, but I'm also lucky to be alive.

As long as you have fun building models it doesn't matter what you have or where you do it

That's right Deron, none here will judge you because of how your space looks. Some of us don't even haven spaces, just a box of stuff in a closet and we build on a bed or kitchen table.
You're lucky in the fact that you have a space to show at all.
So be proud of what you have buddy. We are.

Deron i used to build in my living room on a tray now the tray is on the dining table in my living of my new house ill have to wait until one of my kids move out before i can even think of getting my own room so don't be embarrassed we work with what we've got mate be it a big area or a small area.

I showed mine back on page 21..... Its a dark, cramped computer desk in the corner of the bedroom..

I also use a side under the window in the kitchen if I am quick and the wife is out...

...and for nice sunny warm days a big wooden table in the dogs area outside the backdoor becomes my spray booth...

Sad but true my friend..... And I have to clear everything away when I have done...
So don't fret about workspace.... Its the finished product and the journey getting there that's important..

Oh did I mention my desk has dark fruits cider modelling refreshment included?

Here is my work area that is in a closet that I don't use that also serves as my computer work area until I get the money together to finish my man cave over the garage. I got other paints and odds and ends stashed away in cabinet in the next room until I build a shelve unit for the wall.

There is nothing to be embarrassed about my friend,we all start some where and as long as you enjoy what you are doing there is nothing to worry about.

The parafilm works nicely once you get pass the learning curve because it can get fussy. One thing I learned was to make sure the piece you are trying to attach it too is very clean and free from any oils from your hands or release agent. You have to use a fresh sharp blade when you cut it or it can pull an edge up and send you in fits of rage LOL As far as what is resembles,Hmm the only thing I can think of is shrink wrap. One other note on using it is make sure you burnish the edges well.
