I hope I can do this one justice for sure.

Scott the invitation is very kind, I wish the scheduling would cooperate better but I am hoping that by April I will have most of, if not all of, the interior ready for paint.

Well no worries bud I will follow this along with great interest.

Perhaps an easier bomber kit in April/May might keep the mojo going for your detailed build and reward you with a prize???

Been a while hasn't it....

Must be about time that I show some progress.

First up is to play with the fuselage. Had to try to figure out first where the cuts would have to be.

The next step is to remove the interior detail from the fuselage interior.

Now the fun begins.

The interior begins with the addition of styrene strips to simulate the interior smaller vertical framing and the horizontal stringers.

This is the first part of this.

Next up will be to begin the deconstruction and construction of the details.

Part two of the update.

Beginning working on the kit details was to remove them.

This is what the kit has.

Then the reconstruction began. First up is a little work on the cockpit.

Looking at the seat there is something missing. On the right is the kit seat and on the right my version.

Some additional of what little I have accomplished.

I did also play a bit with the wing area as this section will be visible.

Beginning with the inner space between the wings.

And then moving on to some of the smaller details, bounced around quite a bit at this point.

I also began to construct the radio set.

More updates hopefully soon.

As far as criticism is concerned... I think one of the stringers is crooked but I'm not saying which one

Ok, how about a brief update.

Now although it may not look like it there is some progress. Work is continuing on the interior details and the placement. Of the work so far the focus has been on the cockpit, the nav station, and the radio equipment. A little has been accomplished in the bombadier station.

For this update let me let the pictures tell the story. Remembering all that is kit is the Gray plastic while all else is from myself.

Now the third image is the radio set and that even since the picture was taken has changed a bit. More on the next update.

And an update on the 1/48 Revell B-24D.

I had to make a decision about the nose gear assembly. The kit part looked more like a blob of plastic that held the actual gear. It just didnt look right compared to the pictures and drawings that I have found. Out came the spare stuff and this is the result.

Also the time has come to bring out the Dremmel and begin to make some rather large holes.

Most has been cleaned up and you can see just what the holes show now. Pretty satisfied for sure. Next is to try to get myself to focus on working on the details. To be honest this has been a struggle as of late.

Ok just a brief update to show some of what has been occupying my time.

A great deal of time seems to have been spent trying to get the SCR 274 as close as I can to what I have found in pictures. To that end it has been worked and reworked a number of times.

Lets take a look at what may be the final layout of the equipment. Now remember there is still the wiring to add as well as painting and permanent installation.

And a quick glimpse of the main radio for the aircraft, the Bomb release panel from the Bombardier station, and finally part of the IFF system that sits under the Navigator station. (Left to right)

For now that is it.

That is a lot of scratch work, not only making the stuff but researching time
It will look really impressive once you get it all painted and detailed.
Will you have the fuselage cut open for visibility of the interior?

Ok how about another overview as the work continues for the B-24D by Revell. Again remembering that the kit parts are in gray and the rest are my additions from styrene bits and bobs.

As I move forward on this something that has really caught me is how it seems to be coming together. For this update some small parts such as the inter plane communication boxes and the heaters to larger things like the plumbing and wiring. For this update I again mocked up much of what I have minus the O2 bottles, some of the walkway, and some of the plumbing.

I am sharing two sets of images. One is showing what will be seen through the cuts and the other just focuses on the detail itself.

I still have work to do on the interior. More walkways, plumbing, and some smaller details however it is coming together.

Well a brief update is in order.

The time is here to throw a bit of paint at the white pieces. My normal is a black under coat and then the main color. I did some research and found that Liberators had a mix of colors but a couple of sources show Dull Dark Green for the forward sections, Aluminium for the bomb bay, and Interior Green for the aft sections. I went with this.

Then the detail painting began.

I threw some dry brushing on as well to give it just a bit of wear.

Like I said just a brief update but turning a corner.

Next will be to continue to permanently attach the detail pieces.

How about a very brief update.

The interior of the Revell 1/48 B-24D is near complete. Just a couple of tidy up type of things to do. I have also finished off the wings. Still a ways to go but closer to the end than the beginning at this point.

And now a bit of news. Beginning this update pictures will be minimal. I spoke at length to a magazine editor recently and he is interested in this build. I am allowed to show teasers but not the whole shooting match. I agreed to this and am honored he likes my work.

Just a brief update on the 1/48 Revell B-24D.

The fuselage is closed and the wings are there but not glued, maybe not at all. Only real issues have been with the tail. I have split the lower section four times and the upper twice.

Really like how you have done the cut aways

I keep going back and looking at all the little jewels of detail you put in the various areas of the fuselage
The open wing is pretty darn cool too

This is just amazing!

Where do you find all the reference material to find out what things looked like and where they went?

I really appreciate the attention to detail in the scratch built internal sections.

Kudos is very well deserved here.
