Tamiya 1/24 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth

Tamiya 1/24 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, again doing as a road/track day car. A lot more limitations with this kit than the escort due to its age but I did the best I could with what I had

* Tamiya 1/24 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth
* Primed in Ultimate Grey Primer
* Base painted in Ford Moonstone Blue (from touch up paint)
* Tamiya black panel line wash
* Cleared in Gravity (Spain) 2k Clearcoat
* Scale production BBS RS wheels
* Tamiya LP paints used elsewhere
* All sprayed through the Ultimate Apex airbrush
* Hobby Design Recaro seat, Micro ballooned for texture
* Pe and ribbon Harnesses

As an aside - in 34 years of memories of working for the Blue Oval - when I was based at Dunton R&D in the UK we had a Cosworth 500 version as a management role pool car for a short while. It was a fantastic car to drive but had to be handled with great respect - it would do whatever you asked it, sometimes it would do it without you knowing you had asked... I loved it the couple of times I got to play with it.
Had a bit of a tragic ending to it though. The road out of the centre was a straight run from the "L" shaped office block to a mini roundabout then a right turn onto another straight to the exit gates. Two US execs came over and were going to Dagenham during the closure phase and of course they wanted the 500. Unfortunately neither had driven a "stick" in a long time if ever. The accident report estimated the road speed at the point it hit the raised centre of the roundabout as close to 100 mph. The car got airborne, cleared the rest of the roundabout some 15 feet of grass,another 50 feet of ground, a security fence and wrapped itself around a power pylon some 10 feet off the ground. There were no survivors.

My Mustang GT was like that...super fun to smoke the tires and throw the back end out.
Not so much fun when it did it when you least expected it. I power slid it into the wrong lane on the first turn on my first drive to work with it, fortunately early in the morning with no one around. Never did that again after a good talking to myself about not being a 16 yr old idiot anymore

Very sadly - yes. I say that looking back through the two decades or so ago it happened - at the time there was a distinct lack of sympathy as we all had to go through both the official internal inquiry and the external police one. Net result was we were banned from ever having the high performance variants as pool cars ever again. I look at the Cosworths now - and I would love to have one and drive it again - but they are going for stupidly silly money!!
