Tron Light cycle Trio

Post by Casper »

One of my all time favourites and a classic 1980,s movie 8-)
watched the remastered version on Disney+ the other night, superb.
influenced by the late great Syd Mead RIP he died on my birthday 30/12/2019

Image

so much better than Legacy imo :)
Image

I fancied joining in the fun but didn't know what to do  something with not much work and mostly painting
So I looked on Thingiverse for something to print and found a simple two part cycle

Not a bad finish. I glued the two half's together using superglue and spent and hour or so sanding them down. They look worsted than they are in the photos and cleaned up ok with 600 grit then a wet sand. Not going to go too mad, just need a smooth surface for paint.

Awesome film. I didn't realise there was a remastered version, might have to watch that this afternoon (oh the joys of working from home :D )

Nice 3D prints, are you going to light them or just paint?

Hi MrB :hi:
I really enjoyed watching it, took me right back :) happy days :D
It was filmed in black and white and the suits were also black and white then the film reels were sent to Korea to have all the colouring done to look like the game, brilliant.
I've been thinking about lights and may try something small
If your my age or you would remember the first video games. I worked in a chippy with my best pal Bob doing the potatoes twice a day fior his Dad for pocket money and when closed we had access to the games for free so we got very good at it :) my favourite was Space Invaders, I felt a bit like Flynn going round the clock on in the arcade 8-)
"its all in the wrists"
The bike chase was the hardest part for me, cornering last second. The tanks were pretty noisy and the spider things well :eeek:
great sounds

I really enjoyed the second Tron movie
    Tron Legacy
Jeff Bridges is good at being kinda bad and the CGI is amped up a lot better than the first one IMHO

I watched legacy the other night, its pretty good but call me old fashioned :) I love the old one
The film was inspired by the game Pong
Pac-Man in the scene with villain Sark. You can hear the game’s wacka-wacka in the background

My Black plastic and clear plastic sheets turned up along with some Tamiya Yellow. The 2mm clear turned out to be too thick so a thinner 1mm plastic was cut into three strips and the circles for the rear wheels cut out. I will be gluing them together hopefully when I figure out what glue to use

I thought I would try Zap PT56 Canopy glue to stick the clear plastic to the bike, it takes about an hour to go off and holds really well :o A small bead around each side just to make sure. It cleans up easy with a damp cotton bud.
