The rust looks spot on.
Needs more black dust as it looks a bit clean.

Speaking to Libor previously it was going to be a expensive kit to produce so it kept being pushed back in the production queue.
I would like to get the Wehrmacht Locomotive V188 by Trumpeter (00225) for my Leopold, but it doesn't look too sexy for the price of it.

Thanks. Its going slow, but I'm happy only doing a bit at a time. Not rushing it.


A small update. Done some work on the body before painting. Bit of photoetch.
Have to plan what to add to the body before painting.
Put aluminium foil around the windows.
Its taking shape.

I don't think I've ever come across a loco with three power bogies before either - every day is a learning day.

The build is great, the extra detail you've added to what the kit already delivered just takes it to another level & the weathering is coming along nicely.

Working locos can get absolutely filthy so I don't think you can overdo it and just stop when you think you're happy with how it looks.

Thank you. Its a slow build for me. Not the kind of kit that flows along. I seem to have to fight my way into it, perhaps because its so different to any other kit I've built. Outside the comfort zone...




Heres some more progress

The windows were a real pain getting the silver border. I tried with alumium foil tape, but it was too much for me, so painted it silver. 14 of them. Back was aching by the end of it. Turned out all right though. The cream paint needs a lot of clean up now.

That's still coming along really well; the silver around the windows looks right to me and the cream line along the body also looks very tidy - although I guess there's always going to be something that jumps out at you that the rest of us won't necessarily see.

Sometimes it's cool when a build slows you down a bit and makes you take your time.

One way to avoid the paint bleed is to first tape off as you normally would and then dust on a very thin coat of the base paint. This effectively lets the base color bleed under the tape, if it's going to, and then you can spray on the 2nd color without worrying about it bleeding.

Heres some more pics after fiddling around with the body - fixing window frames, bits of pe, paintwork. Its coming along...

The window frame with the bumpy bits is the only one i left covered in aluminum foil. The areas where its a bit rough will be made to look like rust damage. Any little issues with my dogey work can be easily covered up with rust effects .. easy peasy.

Hi all. Thanks for the comments. I've been away for a bit over the holidays, but have managed to finish this train.
Its a nice looking model straight out of the box. I only added brake lines. It needs a hose at the pipe at the end, but I havent found any tiny chain to hold it in place as per the real thing.

Absolutely awesome in every way...

I built the Revell Ferrari when it first came out and added the Marlboro decals, it was a fun build but not as detailed as Tamiya or even some Protar. Still there is a lot to be done with it. BTW, nice heat treatment (paint) on the exhaust.
