1/20 BMW R75 with Figure

First few attempts at reducing the panzer faust decals and reprinting them was a bust. My initial try looked to print well but became almost 100% transparent when applying them. Next attempt I added a regular white decal background first but the copied image all but dissolved when using setting solution. Last try I added decal sealer over the printed new ones but it more or lass welded the decal to the backing paper.

I'm using an older Cannon InkJet MX860 printer. It has worked well for me in the past so I don't think it's that. It its a decent photo quality printer. Perhaps its the clear decal paper I'm using (?).

So I reprinted them AGAIN. This time I'm using a new decal sealer and letting it dry overnight. Then I will cut the selected decal out and try to apply it; wish me luck!

Thanks Neil.... It's funny, depending on the unit and period you read the about the shoulder and collar piping on the German uniforms (Waffenfarbe), a German motorcyclist piping could be one of several: Grass Green, Copper Brown, Golden Yellow, or White.

It's funny, depending on the unit and period you read the about the shoulder and collar piping on the German uniforms (Waffenfarbe), a German motorcyclist piping could be one of several: Grass Green, Copper Brown, Golden Yellow, or White.

I don't know for sure but I guess it would be down to which division the M/C unit was attached to...

So if it was attached to an infantry battalion it'd be white, panzer battalion would be pink etc

Thanks gents... You know there really was some serious thought put into their uniforms for several reasons. One of the many reasons was for the phycological effect (impact) on both the german civilians and their enemies. Another was the esprit de corps of the wearer regarding knights and heraldry, or at least their understanding of it at the time and for that purpose. (etc., etc.). Enough slogging and dragging on with this build.

Here I present my finished model. If you followed from the beginning you know it came as a 100% resin cast kit of only 9 parts (if I remember correctly). There was no photo etch, decals, or color callouts.

MODIFICATIONS:

- scratch built hard pannier (left saddlebag)
- all cables and some wiring added
- shifting linkage added
- corrected intake tubes to carburetors
- added transfer case lever
- added drive shaft bushing (seal) at engine
- added fuel tank details (choke lever, filter nut)
- added missing right front fender brace
- added belt buckle detail (PE)
- added medal on left breast pocket
- added custom decals on uniform, weapons, and gear
- added custom decals for speedometer, plates, and fender stencils
- added custom wood base sealed in light oak poly

PRO's:

- modeling subject and pose
- crisp and clean molds details
- many details molded into one part
- fit of most parts

CON's:

- many, many 3D print feed lines attached to molds
- many details molded into one part
- no instructions
- no painting guides
- little or no guide / alignment pins
- no decals for motorcycle or rider
- errors in engine intake
- warping of some parts
- some smaller pieces broken (missing) off main part

I used to think the smaller the kit the quicker it would get finished, but in a lot of cases that is just not so. All the detail work including painting can take a age.

Seeing as you put a lot of effort into the General how about a paddle steamer and it fits a theme or creates one
