Tamiya Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Post by MrBowcat »

Morning All. :D

I've been experiencing some mojo loss of late and haven't built in a while. I'm hoping this kit might snap me out of it.

Cheers gents. Having to hold off starting the build until tomorrow as I'm entering a GB on another forum with it.

In the meantime I've ordered some Porsche colours from Paul @ ProScale.

Afternoon all.

I got the cabin completed over the weekend. Just noticed when posting that there are some water marks on the seats that I need to remove.

The interior is $$ !! 3rd (or 4th) that, for sure... but even the suspension / brake assemblies look excellent!! Are those the stock discs?? Crazy nice details

Yep, all stock parts, just gave the disks a black wash to simulate the holes, I prefer this to trying to drill them all out, it never looks right imo.

    Morning all,

Polished up the body yesterday. This had been painted, decalled and glossed over the last couple of weeks, leaving several days each for the paint and gloss coats to fully cure. I'm quite happy with the finish, managed to get quite a glossy look.

    Image

    Image

And I also fitted some of the other body accoutrements, bumpers, engine cover, louvres, etc.

    Image

And to finish off I got the wheels painted and the centre caps and tyres added.

    Image

Other than the glass all the other parts are now painted so I can move on to final assembly. :)

Very nice, the paint finish looks very convincing, not too glossy just right.
Can I ask what colour you used, I can't decide if it is grey or pearl white?

    Cheers gents.

Keith, the body is Porsche Ice Grey, the wheels Porsche Pyro Red, both from Proscale.

Pushed on with adding the glass, wing, mirrors and plethora of grilles and intakes yesterday and am almost at the finish line. Just the aero to go on, then it's done.

I decided to fit the body to the chassis before adding the last parts, some of them are very small with tiny gluing surfaces, and I could foresee me knocking them off trying to get the body on if fitted later.

Drums, I went on the Porsche website and used the configure function to build my own car (if only). This let me play around with the various colour options to see what I liked.
