I will have to blame Pedro Fernandes for inspiring to get the PE set for it, he did such as magnificent job on it that I just had to get it.

Ok here we go!!!

First i have to prep the upper hull for the PE, so i have to remove all the nesessary bits and pieces. I do this by using a hobby knife and in some cases i heat it up to speed up the process:

Image

Then I sand the surface smooth using a file:

And here is the result:

Thats it for now! More progress coming up at a later time. :hi:

The application of those PE parts will be nice, i do not envy you as i´m not a friend of PE parts at all, they rather stick to my fingers than on the model all the time :)
Just wondering, will you use the tracks which are included in the kit? I think they show their age, if you compare them with the tracks in your other Tamiya Panzer II kit you will see what i mean. However, i don´t know how easy it is go get aftermarket ones, i guess they are pretty expensive.

Yes very expensive. :( but I'm afraid that it is too late for me to get them on time to finish the model within the 2 month duration. The kit tracks just plain Suck!! But oh well, I will focuse more on the model. :thumb2:

And as far PE goes, well I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Lol.

Lots of mud on the tracks then.

Ok now that I got the PE set i can continue on with the build. Here is the set along with a CA applicator, this applicator is just awesome!!! It delivers just enough glue to apply precisely! I highly recommend it:
Image
Image

To test it i started with part 27 and 28. And part 27 was too long so i had to cut it to make it fit. But after everything was all said and done, i was pleased with the result:

Image

I also removed the rest of the parts on the opposite side of the upper hull:

Image

And finally glued some more pieces:

Image

Thats all for now. Thank you guys for looking. See you soon!! :hi:

More progress!! I finished putting all the plates down for the upper hull as well as covering up the locating holes on the front, i used CA glue to speed up the process:

Image

Then i moved onto modifying the small parts for the PE:

Image

Even tho it was challenging i was very pleased with the results:

Image
Image

I also covered those awful holes on the bottom of the lower hull, i then used the lamp to check for any imperfections:

Image

Thats it for now!! More to come later. Thanks for looking!

looking great Louis, the pe looks really fiddly but i think well worth your time, some-times you just can't beat photo-etch, the bottle with the one drop looks interesting and will be on my to buy list.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Ok so to say that I find this PE to be challenge is a huge understatement! But I must press on! To give you an idea of how small and fiddly some of the pieces are here is a picture I took before gluing it on place, The camera even had a hard time focusing!
Image

Here they are with all the pieces together:

Image

and finally placed on the hull:

Im going slowly but surely on this and hope that by the end of this, the result will be worth the while! Thanks for looking! :hi:

That is looking the bomb Luis, I like the look of that Eduardo PE, is it easier on the eyes with the gun metal colour instead of the shiny brass? I have a set here but I found it difficult to see the parts because they were so dark.

its KIT "no 9" so .. yeah.. the 9th kit Tamiya produced in its early days...
in its Armour section...

Hope you don't loose too much sleep over all the P.E. ???

but it will sure bring this little kit Up to standards...

Sorry for not posting sooner but life got in the way.....again.

Right, so I pretty much finished the construction part of it. Here are the pictures:

decided to separate the antenna and have it on the up position.

Image

here are the wheels, not glued on for easier painting.

Image

and here is the turret, I also decided not to add the stowage basket....... I think it looks better this way. I closed the commander's hatch since
I am not doing the figures.

Image

I put a piece of plastic rod to prevent me from punching the hatch in. I also drilled out the gun barrels to give it more realism:

Image
Image

and here are some pictures of model completed ( I still need to glue a couple of PE pieces on top of the turret):

Image
Image
Image
Image

next step will be to go around the model with a little bit of Mr. Surfacer and take care of some seams and joints. Till then, see you and Happy holidays!! :hi:

Short Update:

Worked on the tracks, I painted them using Tamiya Gun metal. I wanted the tracks to be weather but have the "metallic" look that it's pretty often lost when weathering the tracks. Then I made a wash using the colors shown in the picture:

Image

I still have to weather them and dry brush them.

Ok, next I worked on the base...... I'll let the pictures do the talking:
