Complete Red Arrows build? - Gauging interest

Hey guys,

Let me first just say that at the moment this is just an exercise in gauging the interest in this idea I have had.

Basically I had the idea to use Airfix's new tooling of the Red Arrows Hawk to build up all 9 Red Arrows jets, and then pose them in one of their famous formations on a custom stand of some kind. I thought to perhaps try and run this as a special interest group build on here, but frankly it would actually only require 9 people or less (if some people were willing to build more than one kit).

So basically I just want to see if there are 9 people out there yet who may, in the future (I can't afford to do it just yet), be interested in buying one of these kits (they aren't expensive) and eventually contributing it to this "group build".

Any other ideas/suggestions are most welcome!

Hey gav, guess what I've had the same idea as you lol, only difference is I've actually got 9 1/72 Red Arrow kits sitting in my stash waiting to be built and then I'm going to put them into a formation I think your idea is great though and id build one for a group build in the future

Ah dammit! lol. Maybe I will just continue to do it myself lol. Had you figured out a base yet? I was thinking a large round or square wooden base, with each plane on a different length bit of wire might be the easiest and cheapest way.

Why don't you two do a buddy build? Great way for just a few of you to do something and share your experiences (blood, sweat and tears....lol) with each other and the rest of us.

It'd make a good thread too. We can set it up in the SiG forum for you if you want

Yeah if Dan is keen we can get something like that rolling, once I have the cash to buy more planes!

lol Dan - It's basically where you'd both build it at the same time and in tandem and share help, hints and tips with each other. Keeping everyone on the informed on the forum as you go with phots and stuff in your oen buddy build thread/forum
