Revell 1/144 Tornado IDS

Post by BrummieModeller »

So I decided to start a new kit :wtf: I fancied doing something really small so I picked this and for the scale my god the detail on this kit is amazing!!!!:
And the fit is great hardly no filler going to be needed! :eeek: Also moveable wings and rear horizontal stabilizers on such a small scale to me that is awesome!!!

I just scratch made some seat belts in the cockpit and painted and added the decals.

So this is what I've done so far :th:

That £1 coin for scale shows how small it really is....it has got good detail I agree...nice work on the cockpit too. :thumb2:

Excellent work Dan.

I was thinking of getting this one myself as I had seen some very favourable reviews.

Looking good Dan. Tempted to get a hold of some of these myself. My local craft shop does sell some models (none that I have ever wanted), but they do have the 1/144th AV-8B Harrier you have.

Nice work on the belts!

Thanks guys, trust me I think the detail on this and the other small 1/144 kits I have are better than most of the bigger scales, it puts airfix to shame I have to admit :eeek:

I said this to lee the other week, 1/144 scale kits have more detail than 1/72. Im not building any more 1/72 kits and sold all the ones i had in my stash, ill happily build a 1/144 though. The 1/144 Trumpeter me262 i did with the ketten krad is one of the best kits ive build.

I am a big fan of these 1/144 kits now I started this. I will defo get more for the future I do have some bigger 1/144 aircraft kits like the C17 and 747 with space shuttle and Concorde which are all revell kits and from looking at them they will be lovely kits too

So the tornado i've finished off the cockpit glued the canopy and sprayed the top spine of the aircraft white and thought I might aswell make it all white so its easyer for the other colours to cover.

Then it was time to try and get my head around the 5/6 colour camo scheme and all the decals so i decided to do the ones down the spine first and get them all perfect as they go around the canopy too (10 decals just down the middle of this aircraft :eeek: :eeek: )

Here are the instructions and my way of trying to get my head around revells annoying colour call out system LOL :eeek:  :wtf:

Will have to brush paint the camo me thinks as there as so many colours in so many random places there is no way of spraying it on this scale as this whole build is not much bigger than the size of your credit card :eeek:

Hope ya all likesss

Comment if you wants toooo! :th:

Coming on nicely mate. The decals on the spine look good. Hopefully you can get the other colours painted nice and neatly. Should be ok at this scale though.

Wow that is tiny Dan, I guess you would recommend a kit at this scale? I'm finding that I'm getting older 1:72 is getting too small let alone 1:144, but I'm tempted too give it ago. Any tips mate?
Yes.. It is supposed to look like that!

So its been a while since i added anythink about this build and reason is this camo has annoyed me and in the end have had to brush paint it all as its soo small to mask up and airbrush :eeek: but here it is

Image

Anyways so at the moment i am doing all the decals and this is just one side to the decals theres many more yet lol :eeek:

Image

so decal stage at the moment not much to do but yet to paint all the landing gear which is super small lol i must be mad :eeek: :eeek: :eeek:
